NOV DOOM to play accoustically!

This will be a unique night, to say the least. We won't be recording it in the same professional manner as the DVD shoot, but we will capture it somehow. If it's good enough, a song or two may make it on the DVD release as a bonus.

Any fan of our mellow material, you DON'T want to miss this set. I'm even shocked at some of the songs we're playing. We'll also include a couple of our heavy tracks, re-worked for this set.

Depending on how this goes for us, there's always the possibility of us doing this at some point stateside, but for now, it's a one time deal!

I don't think I've ever heard a completely acoustic song with growls - could this be the first time?

There's gotta be a way to record this, or at least a handful of tracks and toss it up on the website or something.

Very cool!

This sounds absolutely amazing! The fans are in for quite a treat, and I have to believe it will be a lot of fun for you guys too!

Damn, I'd give my left arm (well, maybe not, but you get my point :goggly:) just to see you guys play ANYTHING live. These are some lucky bastards :)

Yeah, though it sounds like a lot of rarely to never-been-played songs will be performed. This will be ACE!

I can't blame the band for choosing Europe for these special events. ND are criminally underrated and underappreciated in the States, though that seems to be changing for the better with each release.

So any Euro-fans here going?
I know there were many of you who went to some of the shows last year.

Paul and Co, I know this is a stupid idea, but I'm going to toss it out there anyway.

Here in Valpo we have a small venue called The Chicago Street Theater. It seats about 100, I think. They normally have plays here, but they also have the occasional music show. In the last year, I have seen Jim Peterik (I shouldn't have to tell anyone from Chicago who he is!) and Kasim Sulton (of Todd Rundgren and Meat Loaf fame). The venue has the ability to record the shows and create CDs of the show right then and there after the show ends. They did this for both of the shows I was at.

I have thought several times that this would be a great venue for someone's acoustic set. So if you were in any way interested in a rehearsal show at an out of the way place that you could record and get CDs of, this could be an option. I could try to get logistical information.

Commence rolling your eyes and thinking "This guy's an idiot." :)

It's not an idiotic idea, we just need more information. Not sure that we'd have the time to do a warm-up show before the European trek, but it could be something interesting for later. Just get the info for us and pass it onto Paul when you can, Ken. If you can be a liason, that helps. If it's something doable for us then we'll consider it, we shall see.

Best "music' news in quite awhile. I always though a purely acoustic full-lenght album-proper would be an amazing creation by ND. Has anyone discussed doing this already and I missed it? I hope the band would consider the possibility.

If I remember correctly this was considered. However, if it were to be done they would probably be lumped in the Opeth clone catergory as unfair as it would be. So it would definitely be a calculated risk.

I know there were many of you who went to some of the shows last year.

It's on a monday evening in a café in Antwerp. Approx 75-100 people maximum.
I'll probably will be going, first i have to found out if there is a presale or not. I'm looking forward to this once-in-a lifetime weekend.

Awesome, if permitted, please take lots of pictures!
Don't forget to report back with a detailed review.

Just because I love to tease... The set will be about an hour or so, 11 songs so far, and at least 5 of them have never been played live before. Obviously the other songs will be versions never before heard, and yes, a couple are heavy versions re-imagined. This is going to be a lot of fun for us!
