I was in a mood today for some traditional metal and NWBOHM so I listened to a crap load today. Saxon, Battleaxe, Iron Maiden, Cloven Hoof, Angel Witch and Grim Reaper. I assume most people here like NWOBHM but just for shit's sake, this is an appreciation thread for it. Talk about your faves and reccomend some if you want. I'm attmpting to DL some Witchfynde since the lonly song I've heard of theirs is Givem Hell. And it's damn hard to find there stuff to buy.

I've been listening to Raven's "Rock Until You Drop" ALL DAY. The bonus track on my version, "Wiped Out," is fucking incredible! THEY JUST DON'T STOP ROCKING!

I like a lot of NWOBHM, but I think one of the most overlooked albums is Witchfynde's 'Stagefright'.

I love the variety on the album. The title track is a doom classic, while songs like 'In The Stars' sound nothing like doom. 'Madeline' is a killer ballad, while 'Trick or Treat' is more basic NWOBHM.

Great singer too.

Hi from Sweden! Nice to be among people with such good taste. An album that seems impossible to buy these days is Tygers Of Pan Tang's 'Spellbound'. Totally Rocks! Yeah the first Raven and 'All For One' is killer too. Oh, by the way, saw Diamond Head live at the Sweden Rock festival a couple of weeks ago. Pretty good!

Spellbound is a great album! John Sykes is incredible on it.

I was lucky enough to find it on cd when we were in Europe a few years ago.

I went looking for Stage Fright a while ago, I checked all the CD stores near here and on a couple sites, nothing. So DLed a couple songs from it, it sounds really good! Also I'm wioth you guys Raven are awesome, especially their first 3 albums. Savage is cool too.

I did a little research about the T.O.P.T. 'Spellbound'-album and it seems you can only get it new from about 35$ and up. Edgy/Neat Metal Records was bought up by Sanctuary a while ago so we'll see if they're interrested in releasing it again. Other from trying to get it at Ebay (there's one Japanese and one Euro. with 5 bonus t. that I know of) you could try the 'Live At Nottingham Rock City ('81)' which contains all songs from 'Spellbound' except one track. OK, so now you all know my level of metal nerdity...bla bla :)

Remember the live version of "Rock Until You Drop" on the Hit Parader casette that also had the origional version of JP's "Eyes Of The Night?"

Actually, I think Raven's best work is on Stay Hard!
:loco:

Hehe, I'm only 18 years old, so I wasn't around for the release of this. But my friend does have that tape, and I have heard it. :D

I like the 4 first Raven albums (including the live) best but I must say that the instrumental 'The Bottom Line' on 'Stay Hard' is truly a forgotten classic. Certainly my favourite Metal song with a horn section!

I'd kill to have a copy of that! My brother trashed my copy! I really like Q5, Lizzy Borden, and it was my first listen to Slayer!

Yeah Q5! Anyone heard 'Missing in action'? Totally rocks! Awesome riffs, cool singer. They were from the US weren't they? I recently saw 'The decline of the western civ. The Metal Years' on swedish TV and Lizzy Borden was in it.
