i've hit this odd stride of prog metal lately...

Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden

Stratovarius - Father Time

Rhapsody - Thunder's Mighty Roar

Nightwish

i don't know why or how but its just been in the playlist a lot lately.

especially iced earth - the three piece rollout of the Battle of Gettysburg was pretty damn awesome.

that whole album was like a non-judgemental history lesson with a few other great figures from humanity added as well.

Symphony X/The Divine Wings of Tragedy, or Odyssey
Stratovarius/ Visions
Evergrey/ The Inner Circle
Angra/ Rebirth
Zero Hour/ Specs of pictures burnt beyond
Pagan's mind/ Celestial entrance
Balance of power/ Perfect Balance
Ark/ burn the sun
Andromeda/ Extension of the wish
Spiral Architect/ A Sceptic's Universe......amazing technical playing
Twisted into Form/Then Comes affliction to Awaken the Dreamer.......spiral architect's guitar player
Check them out a very good mix of prog/power

WHat are some good current (can be new bands or just new releases) that have actual singing? I just cant get into the screaming thing. There are a lot of talented musicians out there and the music is realy good, I just cant get down with the screaming. Call me old school I dont know..... Sorry for the hijak

VOLBEAT http://www.myspace.com/volbeat (Check out "The Gardens Tale" that has ended up with massive airplay on national danish radio!) www.volbeat.dk

Their 2nd album "Rock The Rebel/Metal The Devil" came out 2 weeks ago, and it kicks ass! Think 'Metal meets 50s rock n´ roll meets Johnny Cash meets Danzig' or something like that.

The new album has sold 5000+ copies since it came out 2 weeks ago, which is HUGE for a Danish band, let alone a metal band!

edit: They actually top the official Danish (top-selling) chart !!!! http://www.hit-listen.dk/ And their 1st album is no. 21!!!! :OMG: Fucking insane....

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I got my hands on a bunch of old Raven CDs on MP3... brought back a lot of memories. Everyone slags "The Pack Is Back," but I kinda think fondly of it, as it was the first Raven album I ever owned.

i'm listening to the new "kittie" cd right now. i like it :)

i also bought a copy of iron maidens "death on the road" dvd at best buy. a lonesome copy just sitting on the shelf. i thought this dvd was recalled. either it got lost in the shuffle or got released finally. i know there was a problem with on of the discs.

Even though they incorporate some death vocals you really need to give Into Eternity a chance:

TBH Iced Earth has done so many others Killer albums, The glorious burden it's their lower point in the discography imho.

Try "Night Of The Stormrider" for a great trilogy (the first three tracks) or the song "Dante's Inferno" to see how 16 mins tracks can bow you down to your knees like this -->:OMG:

i'm surprised they had a copy at my local hip hop music store i mean best buy in the ghetto.

after i got past the first 2 songs with out going into a siezure the editing slowed down and i was able to enjoy the concert. also the bonus disc kicks some major fucking ass with over 2 hours of behind the scenes stuff vids and interviews. well worth 21 american dollars.

mr bong i raise my coffee cup to you, you are a gentleman and a scholar :kickass:
