O/T Ozzfest for free!

Thats pretty cool. She was charging close to 500 bucks a ticket for a quick meet and greet with Ozzy. And that wasn't even guaranteed. I wonder how they are going to sort the ticket thing out? First come first serve? That would work well:rolleyes: I predict some overturned fiery cars in ampitheater parking lots this summer.

No way this is happening! I think she's trying to drum up publicity for Ozzfest, then at the last minute, she'll announce that for some reason they can't legally give the tickets away for free.

who's even going to be doing this ozzfest?

That's the million-dollar question.

Reports are stating they lost $1.5 Million last year and that's because they were paying bands $300,000-$375,000 to play, so getting bands to play for free is a good idea.

The main question now is what bands will play for free? The overall feeling on the internet is that a bunch of really band local bands will rush for the chance, but there is a large chance that larger bands would easily jump on this chance. If a band like Megadeth, Strapping Young Lad, or Shadows Fall did this tour, it would be for the extra free press, the fun, and the chance to say they got to play on the same bill as Ozzy. Honestly, what major band that hasn't done that wouldn't jump at the chance?

The way they handle the bands who will play is going to be what makes or breaks Ozzfest, and Sharon knows this. We all just have to wait another month, since they normally announce the bands and dates in March.

that bitch could offer me $100 and i still wouldn't bother going to see that bullshit or her washed up husband darg his decrepit ass onto a stage. didn't he retire about 10 years ago. no more tours ? well here he comes again promoting a new album. i'm sure bllck label society will be on the bill.

Amen brothers.

As long as Sharon needs new Gucci handbags, fruity dogs, pay rehab for her ADHD-kids and a new Lexus each month you can bet your asses Ozzy will tour.

As much as I want to laugh at this, I also feel so sorry for him. I do give her credit with helping him get his career back in the 80's, but there's no doubt that she's pushing him too hard now. The man is sick, give him some peace!

The traveling extravaganza will once again be headlined by OZZY OSBOURNE, with the rest of the lineup yet to be announced. Ozzfest co-founder Sharon Osbourne said during a press conference last month that doing the tour like this was unprecedented: "We're doing 25 shows across America, and it's the first time that actually a summer festival tour has gone out free. There's been millions of free one-off shows, but this is gonna be a 25-city tour. And we're having our second stage, as usual, and everything goes as normal, except it's free."

Ozzfest will utilize sponsors to offset the costs of producing and running the festival. To gain entry into the event, fans will go to Ozzfest.com or LiveNation.com to find links that will direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. More details regarding the process are forthcoming.

Sharon said that rising artist fees would have forced Ozzfest organizers to raise ticket prices this year. While smaller acts have traditionally not received a fee, Sharon insisted that no one is getting paid this time: "We are giving people a stage, and we're giving them a chance to play in front of thousands of people. And we're giving them the chance on days off, they can go work wherever they wanna work, gig wherever they wanna gig. They can even play Ozzfest and then go off that night and do another gig, 'cause we start music from noon. But they can come, they can sell their merchandise, they can sell their music. But it's free. We're not paying anyone."

Sharon said that the tour already had "bands committed," adding, "We know there aren't any major headlining acts that would tour all summer for nothing, but we're confident we can turn some of the genre's biggest bands on to what we're doing and have them come out to play a date or two."

In a prepared statement, Sharon also said that the reason for doing the tour this way was simple: "We're reaching the same point we did years ago when kids no longer wanted to pay for overpriced CDs. As a result, they found alternative ways of getting music. That's what's happening with summer touring in this country, it's out-pricing itself. We started this and we want to keep it and we want to make it bigger and bigger each year by getting bigger sponsors to be involved with the festival and underwriting the festival."

So, it's free, but gone corporate.

Interested to see who the bands are. Well, besides Black Label (since Zakk is $haron's bitch)
