I had a post a long time ago (September I think) where I ranted & raved about my remodeling disaster. Well my Anthrax friends I am almost at an end. A few observations:

1.) Don't remodel!
1.a.) DO NOT REMODEL (especially if you don't know what you are doing/getting into!)
1.b.) Refer to 1, and 1.a!
2.) Move, if you must.
3.) Buy a house new, or nearly new.
4.) Budget 20% more than you think.
5.) Overestimate the time by 50%
6.) Get GOOD Contractors!

My house looks great. All I have to do is hang closet doors. And a few other things. I did about 80% of the carpentry by myself, with my dad helping/supervising. Man, I learned a lot (and saved a pretty penny too). But what a farce. I lived in my basement for a month....not a pretty sight. It was a VERY stressful experience. Something I have NO intention of ever repeating! EVER!

All for the new Anthrax fan on the block. He is due February 27th. All is well with the preganancy. Although my wife is a little cranky. Can't sleep, heartburn, etc.

I drank a SHITLOAD of Blatz and other concoctions, to help ease my pain.

At least 3 days, I stayed up for 30+ hours working. It basically ruined my hunting/camp season.

But now I have a great house to have the baby/kid/teenager tear up.

But at least I have been able to enjoy the new Anthrax. Man this shit is the best. It has grown on me so much. "Safe Home" is currently rocking my world.

I know Charlie doesn't want us to download, but never fear. I have my Jap import on order. Plus I wil buy the American version as well!!!!
Cheers to all!!!

I was wondering how it was going, but was afraid to ask. Glad everything is working out, even if it did take a long time. Your wife will be cranky the entire month of February. Just keep your mouth shut, and complain to your friends when she can't hear you. You'll be fine. :D

We are looking at houses now but probably won't buy until next year sometime. We're stuck in our lease until June anyway.

Glad to hear your finished. If I had to live in my basement for a month with my wife when she was pregnant I don't think I would have made it out alive. I know what a pain in the ass an old house can be. I did some remodeling on my house last year and was all excited this year thinking it was over...then our septic system fucks up and now I have to replace that. There goes another $8000 down the toilet....literally.

when is the housewarming party??????
I just love to trash a place that's just remodeled!!
Good luck with the wife, and play the new cd in the babys room nonstop so he developes a good taste in music from day one!!!

the kind words everybody. Especially the Brat. Your advice is accepted/noted and duly recorded!

Although I did not have a housewarming bash, I had some folks over Xmas eve (Including a dude who just got out of prison for attempted murder---DON'T ASK! He was not my guest!). Needless to say I got trashed. Everybody seemed to like the house----at least they liked the beer....

So all is well in the North Michigan Anthrax Hinterland!

KYFRIED442--sorry to hear about your "Shitty" problem...lol!

Take care guys. Mosh hard always!

vomit-
I too was thinking of asking you how it was going.

I even made a tribute to your thread "HOMEOWNERS, BEWARE!".

Of course my version was "HOMEBREWERS, BEWARE!" Don't know if you ever noticed that tribute...

Anyways. Good job, man. Glad you're through that shee-it!
:)

Congratulations, always feels good to complete a project that is huge.
Did you integrate a home theatre into your remodeling job? Gotta have good sounds!
Current house, wife let me have free rein of the basement. It rocks. Flat screen, High Definition, progressive scan DVD, Dolbey Digital, DTS. I'm digging it now, never had that luxory at the other house. (also isolates from the kids, when I need it)
I've remodeled a couple of houses. I thought your 20% cost increase was a little low myself, but that could be just because you budgeted better than me.

Cheers...to a fellow Michigander

GO LIONS!!!!!!

Thraxdude---of course I noticed your post "Homebrewers Beware"--I think I posted, then again maybe not....I was probably drunk that day/week/month...

LordLindsey--the stereo is hooked up with the DVD SurroundSound and we are rockin the house......now we just need to birth this new Antrhrax record. I can hardly wait for my import!!!

Stay Dangerous!
