O/T: Slayer!!!!!!

I used to think they were great!! But to say their last two releases were weak would be a gross understatement!! It doesn't seem like the fire is there anymore..(IMO)

There are some great tracks on the last two Slayer albums, but neither is what you might call a classic album.

Mind, I think Reign In Blood is massively over-rated. Gimme Seasons In The Abyss ANY time.

I just ran into 2 younger Metal heads at some record store (down at Glenelg beach for those that know Adelaide) - we got talking Slayer and the kid shows me his Slayer tat on his arm he just got done that day.

KILLER.

Can't wait for their tour over here in April.

That's one of the few decent record shops in this town apart from JBs and Big Star. Looking forward to Thebbie!

I have said for years that Reign in Blood is the only record I can give a perfect 10/10 for. It doesn't have a song or part that isn't perfect.

hey don't get me wrong, I wasn't slagging the album off by any means, I just think for my personal tastes they have done other albums that I prefer.

I think maybe it is time for me to go back and have another listen to RIB, huh?

the show itself was great; a large contingency of the concert goers were not real friendly in my opinion- i guess Slayer has a more intensely devoted fanbase(?) - perhaps most of these people were just revved up to hear some aggressive and violent music. hard to say. At most shows I've been to I usually make small talk with people and have a little more fun; last night had some real weird people come up to me and bump into me like they wanted to fight or something, which was weird since I was just standing near the back with my diet coke. Maybe I didn't seem metal enough to be there.

Maybe it was the diet coke?

For me I actually think Seasons in the Abyss is my fav. Simply because it was probably a more diverse album and also it has their best song ever on it.

DEAD

SKIN

MASSSSSSK

You mean you don't even like the songs Disciple, Bloodlines, Payback, New Faith...?!

Hows about Cult from the new one? No....?

Personally I thought GHUA was a step too far towards hardcore punk type shouty music, for want of a better description. I prefer the more melodic, metal side of Slayer, though I appreciate that probably makes me an old fart.

I like Slayer but im listening to them less and less at the minute. I liked Christ Illusion in parts but I do think they have the "listenability" of Anthrax, (pre black album) Metallica or Megadeth.
I saw them a couple of months ago in Glasgow and was bored at the show.

I am a slayer fan.

And why so many cunts at their gigs? Because it's metal, it's satan and it's scary......grrr...satan....die....woah...
I laugh at cunts like this at gigs. And yes I go in the mosh pit. If people go down, I help 'em up. If anyone is overly aggressive or being a cunt to me, then they get a clump, no questions asked.

I think the image they portray doesn't exactly help:

"If someone goes down, help 'em up, that's what you're here to do, help each other out, right..? Here's a song called WAAAAAAAAAAAAR ENSEEEEEEEEEEEMBLE!!!!!!!!!"

Mind you, Motorhead gigs have their same share of dickheads who spend the whole gig fighting and miss the actual performance cos of spinning round, arms flailing, tops off like some kind of homoerotic initiation ceremony.

ho hum, fuck 'em, long as I can keep away from them and enjoy it the way I want to.
