Obama is coming to my little city.

I'm assuming he is here to boost the poll numbers for our corrupt asshole governor. But actually, I have no idea why. He is going to see the Seward house and Tubman home in the morning then he is out.

How is Andrew Cuomo corrupt or an asshole? Compared to the last couple of governors you guys have had he's a fucking choirboy, and I haven't heard anything to prove otherwise. Plus he's not up for re-election until 2014, and he's probably going to win by a landslide again, so I doubt that's why Obama is there. (Although I did see his poll numbers weren't so hot, so you could be right)

Actually, up till this year I didn't care about the guy. Actually legalizing gay marriage was something he did right. He had to go fucking with my job and my family this year, so fuck that cunt fucking fuck face.

What did he do exactly? Not being judgmental, just curious. Everybody has a right to hate their elected representatives (I know I do!).

My wife and I have talked about moving out of Rochester NY plenty of times, but now we just talk about getting out of NY state. I could care less if the big O came through this way or not. Thankfully I was home before the roads had to be "prepared" for him as the highway dept put it..

As far as I know he was through this way to speak about getting tuitions lowered for college students and I'm sure that just means tax payers will be eventually closing that gap in some way shape or form if he has his way.

Around here he appeals to a lot of folks who could care less about being employed as long as the handouts are good, and here in NY they seem to be. Lowering tuition won't mean shit to them, they aren't college bound anyhow. Those willing to work hard are still going to further their education....and then move out of NY so they can afford to build a life.

We get lots of presidential candidates trolling here every election cycle and TBH it's never been a huge deal for me. They do close down roads but they give you insane notice and there are enough alternatives that it's pretty easy (here). Pres Obama did the Falon show (which I worked) and even that wasn't as big of a deal as I would've thought.

I could swear I've seen this same OT before in here..

or something extremely similar.

Clogging up traffic.. So familiar. Ours is blocked every time our fucking president goes to/returns from work. Or when the archbishop moves his fat ass from point A to point B. Even trams have to stop.

"Colleges that are more affordable, serve more students from poorer backgrounds and have high graduation rates, among other factors, will be rated higher. Students who go to highly rated colleges would receive more funding in Pell Grants than those who choose to attend schools that are not doing as well in the federal government’s opinion. Also, in a change from the status quo, colleges would not receive the full amount of a Pell Grant for a student who drops out, in a bid to encourage them to boost their graduation rates."

I don't mean to sound like a reactionary Obama supporter (I almost voted for Romney), but most people who seem to dislike Obama regardless of what he does don't seem to care about the specifics of his policies. This isn't going to change college tuition rate increases dramatically, but it seems like a somewhat effective use of what little leverage the government has.

I don't think you sound that way at all. There's just to many things I dislike about him as president to have any confidence that he will solve anything that will move us in a direction that getting a college education will become much less of a burden than it already is. Trust me, I'm not attacking him. I have three children to put through school. I don't think there's anyone qualified currently in office or up and coming that will change this anytime soon within either party. I would really LOVE to have some confidence again that our government has our best interests at heart.

Things he did I like:

Made gay marriage legal.

Stuff he has done that sucks:

Open NY is bullshit. There is literally no incentive to keep people in the state because our business taxes are so high. Open NY is a 10 year tax free card for new businesses who will set up shop on SUNY campuses only and is aimed primarily at tech jobs. All the while I look 3 miles down the road and watch 200 people get laid off because a business decided to move manufacturing to TN because in their own words "it's cheaper in taxes."

The SAFE act is mostly bullshit. Why the fuck would I want $34 million (I did hear this went down a small amount but never found out the actual number) keeping tabs on people fallowing the law? Not one single thing in this law will do anything to keep any NY resident safer. He passed it in the middle of the night without any public input. He decided that retired cops are exempt because they aren't truly citizens like the rest of us peons... oh he did that in the middle of the night without input either. He provided no funding for all the new paperwork that will need to be processed because of this horse shit law. "Nobody needs 10 rounds to kill a deer", except that's already illegal idiot.

He reduced the budget for OPWDD by over $90 million. Apparently he also thinks this deficit can be absorbed easily. There are several developmentally disabled adults who are going to lose their jobs and in some cases thier services. But whatever fuck them because:

We gave the fucking Ralph Wilson Stadium $54 million tax payer dollars! Yeah fuck yeah go bills! Did I mention this prick's administration gets a 12 seat suite out of the deal?

Made deals with major campaign contributors (people who gave him 6 and 7 figure donations) for tax exemptions. This stopped of course when people couldn't give anonymously anymore.

Says he is tough on corruption in Albany, creates the Moreland Commission and then turns around and doesn't call for Sheldon Silver to step down for covering up the lopez scandal with tax payer money. I also doubt HIGHLY that the Moreland commission will look into Cuomo at all.
