after a quick warmup, 'bama and mcpain took it to the basketball court where obama landed dunk after dunk. mcpain never had a chance, he was just too old and outclassed!

obama won in style by breaking the glass and giving mcpain the game ball which was autographed.

I never cared about politics to begin with but this looks like a good thing. Too bad I didn't vote (No, I didn't just not vote, I was ill today and haven't left the house).

I am a very proud democrat tonight!!! And it was a clean sweep...Now maybe we can get somethings done  It is very historical as well, awesome night!!!! Hats off to McCain for a nice parting speech....

this is the best thing to happen in this country for a long time

Agreed. A great night for America, for sure. I think Obama will not disappoint.

Also, McCain's speech was pretty remarkable. Nice to see McCain being the gentleman he was before the elections. Oh how he changed in the past year or so...

mccain would have done better had he not focused so much on downing obama, he spent more time bashing than telling about his ideas.

im glad obama won, ultimately i wish paul would have but, im putting my support and faith in obama. hopefully he gets america's turn around under way.

Well, I am hardly Obama girl, but thank the gods (or whatever). I think McCain shot himself in the foot with his idiot choice of running mate. Like Bear said, let's hope some good shit can get done now.

Congrats to the Democrats tonight.

As a right-approaching libertarian (fiscal conservative, socially liberal, but few or no gov't handouts or entitlements), I fear for the future of the Republic.

I'll post more later (or not), but I base that gloomy assessment on Obama/Pelosi/Reid's expected future....

-- growth-stifling tax policy
-- passing of HR 800 (see thomas.loc.gov for details on the supposed "Employee Free Choice Act")
-- universal health care...which isn't working that well in Massachusetts
-- re-closing of all recently-opened areas to drilling and exploration
-- "Green at all costs" energy policy

...but for tonight, y'all enjoy it. :)

It is remarkable. I feel privileged for this to have been the first presidential election I have been involved in.

Inspiration and motivation are the most crucial, unteachable tools that someone in a leadership position can have. We as American's have the power to move forward and better our lives and country, and the future of both.
I feel an obligation, and a yearning to serve this country in the best way I can. I want to improve it, help it. This is something special. I couldn't vote, but this campaign and now president-elect have given me the opportunity to involve myself and voice my opinion.

There was something moving about tonight for me, and many Americans to my knowledge. It transcended far beyond vote tally's and percentages...but reached an emotional level that is only touched in the midst of the most pivotal and meaningful moments.

This is our country, we must realize this is just the start of a journey on a path long overdue to be taken.
We have an opportunity to rise and stand as one nation, as one people. We can better our foreign relations. We can improve our economy to the level that currently seems unreachable. We can become more energy efficient and help to preserve our environment. We can overcome obstacles that are seemingly indestructible. We can do anything, together, as Americans.

Yes We Can

Exactly. The thought that McCain could die in office and leave that woman in power leaves me with a very cold feeling. Sure, he may live another 10 years, but that's not a risk I was willing to take when I voted.

Not that it matters much. The electoral college votes ultimately decide who is the next president.

Here's to the hope for positive change. It's always a gamble with every new president.

Agreed...I'm pretty sure that 6 or so months from his inauguration you won't be able to find a person that voted for him...except those getting the handouts from the "spreading of the wealth".

They should rename the USA the USSA - the United Socialist States of America - because that's what it will become.

Be careful what you wish for... because you may get it - and the side effects as well.

Looks like too many people drank the Obama Kool-Aid. :erk:

So now I'll be out of a job in about a year or so.... ugh.

We shall see what transpires, let's hope he lives up to what he promised. You have got to remember he is a politician.

I don't know what the future holds for America, but I am feeling so much better about facing it now. I'm glad 'my guy' won the election, even if I don't agree with all he stands for-or the party for that matter. He was the lesser of my evils.

Or maybe I'm just freaking flat out over joyed that we are that much closer to the end of the Bush administration that has me all warm and giggly inside.

I think McCain shot himself in the foot with his idiot choice of running mate.

I've thought about that a lot and I don't really agree. I do completely agree that she is unqualified, and an all-around idiot. However, I think a majority of the people who share that opinion are people who probably wouldn't have voted for McCain regardless of the running mate. McCain's chances weren't good to begin with and the move to Palin reeked of desperation and to some extent it did work. The people who love Palin really love her, which is the what the Republications wanted. I think McCain did more to ruin his own chances than anyone else did.
