Hey Guys,

I have an old sonic 4x12 cab with an ohm selection switch. Has a right and left input with a toggle switch in the middle. I know it can run at 4,8,16 ohms and I thought the toggle to the right and plugged into the right input is 8 ohms.

The company is no longer in business and my sticker has worn off to the point where I can no longer read what selection is what. I've searched all over for the info on this and I'm coming up blank? Anyone have an idea on how I can try to figure this out?

Thanks guys.

I am not sure how they would get 8 ohms unless it is in stereo. 4 and 16 in Mono.

The best way is to just use a multi-meter and check the resistance. Not quite the same as impedance, but close enough. So 16 Ohms will likely read 12-14, 8 Ohms likely or so. 4.. maybe 3.5 or something.

Then just make a new label.

Yessir. Attach a speaker cable to the plug, put a multimeter on the other end with the black lead touching the barrel and the red lead to the tip, set switch to ohms, check resistance, and label.
