Off Topic: London Bombs

Tony Blair said the following about the attacks in America 4 years ago:

"There is no reading, there are no words, that can truly comfort those who are grieving the loss of their loved ones today; and no matter how we try to make sense of it all it is hard, so hard, to do."

I think it's fitting today.

My thoughts go out to anybody here that may have been affected in some way by these tragic events. Certainly puts things in perspective: while we can sit here endlessly arguing about the merits of Octavarium, there are very real, very troubling events going on the world.

I truly hope that all of the British SymX'ers are OK. :(

I also hope that Britain will not lose its resolve as a result of this the way Spain did.

not to turn this into a political thread, but whats that supposed to mean? If you're referring to the Iraq war #1 the vast majority of Spain's population did not want to go into Iraq and because of that descision their president lost by a landslide the next election, and #2 that has nothing to do with these bombings.

Couldn't have thought of anything better to post than this.

I have no respect for anyone who can destroy a human life. There is no excuse, and such action invalidates a cause rather than lending strength to it.

I have friends working in London, but I've got in contact with all of them so that's a relief. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones in this stupid attack.

Fortunately some lessons have already been learned and the emergency services were able to act quickly and in a highly coordinated manner according to training for the day that was bound to come sooner or later.

I was wondering the same thing as Ingwai X, but maybe it's better not to argue so soon and let people grieve, for there's nothing left to do for us right now.

"Decades of greed, plague, famine and war..."

You're right. I didn't want to appear insensitive towards this tragedy, so I'm sorry if I came off that way.

Let's keep this as a place to offer our thoughts towards those in London, & not as a political thread..thanks.

My alarm is set to a local news/talk station, so I was awoken hearing this news this morning...my anger has yet to subside. Condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy. The Brits are a tough lot...they've been through this before and will persevere.

Thank you for that. I am a Maggie Thatcher admirer, from my younger days, and have come to have a great admiration for Mr. Blair, as well.

Just everyday life...the fact it happened in London is the reason why it's getting so much attention, but I still hope they are all fine over there.

While yes, it does happen in other places, it's not as frequent in England. Have a heart...I think you can understand why they would be grieving.

Terrorism & evil has always been with us. Hitler, Stalin, Khmer Rouge, '72 Munich Olympics, '93 WTC bombing, Khobar Towers, USS Cole, Bali, 9/11...on and on. It is no worse now than in the past.

God be with those who lost love ones in England.

Same problem in Italy, with people that don't want to go to Iraq, and a mad clown like Berlusconi (Oh what a shame!) with his delirium of omnipotence :ill: Election next year...
