I read somewhere and I think that I recall someone saying this here too (maybe TheDude? not really sure) that it's important that you have an interface which has atleast 1 MOhm instrument inputs, especially if you are running your guitar straight into the input for use with modellers etc. The reason being that only a 1 MOhm input "covers" the whole "range" of the guitar signal.

I hope you understand my question :goggly: but is this true?

If so, does anybody know any good USB-interfaces which have 1 MOhm or above inputs?

Cheers

Oh yeah, I meant the instrument inputs, stupid me  and yeah, I think that I should be looking for interfaces with an instrument input that has atleast 1MOhm, gonna fix that on the description.

thanks for the link btw and for correctin me :)

Mackie Onyx Satellite has 1MOhm instrument inputs and some very nice preamps to boot for only around £110. Been using it as a DI for recording guitars on my bands EP to reamp later and I'm very happy with how its been performing. Very big improvement compared to the instrument inputs on my Mbox 2.

Hmm, I'm not certain the Onyx Satellite has 1 MOhm inst. inputs, but more importantly as an owner of one I can say there was a subtle but noticeable improvement using my Little Labs Redeye as a DI box (rather than the Onyx inst. in), even though the Redeye has a much lower input impedance because it's passive! Not saying input impedance doesn't matter, but rather that it's not the only determining factor in sound quality - check out the "Preparing Your Tracks for Reamping" thread and then this DI shootout thread I started for the full lowdown!
