Ok, so I've finally heard some Graveland....

"Thousand Swords" to be exact.

And all I can say is what in the fuck are you guys smoking on? Do you remember the show Pinwheel on Nickelodeon? The theme song to that show is fucking heavier than this crap. What kind of drum set is that? The cymbals sound like wind chimes or those little windup musical snow globes.

Totally fucking gay. And here I was actually considering I may be missing out on something heavy.

 I never thought for a second you'd enjoy Graveland.

Though I'm not sure why something has to be "heavy" to be enjoyed.

Yeah, Burzum is a lot heavier than Graveland, but I much prefer Graveland. Both bands utilize mid-tempos and tons of repetition. But i think I prefer Graveland because his music is much more epic in scope instead of pure black metal. But no doubt Burzum had an influence on Graveland's sound.

Thousand Swords is commonly considered Graveland's finest work and one of black metal's finest and most important albums. It's not my favorite, but I enjoy it.

With the limited knowledge I have of your tastes, you'd much prefer their latter material like Creed of Iron or Fire of Awakening since, from what I've observed, you prefer a cleaner production and faster moving songs.

It took me a lot of listens to fully comprehend what Darken was doing, but I finally came to accept my conclusion as fact: Graveland fucking rules.

PS - I saw that Terrorizer finally grew some balls and reviewed a Graveland album. I didn't expect much, and that's what I got. They gave Dawn of iron Blades a 5/10 and the reviewer basically sounded like every single elitist out there: "Everything before and including Immortal Pride is perfect. Everything after it sucks."

Hmm, I didn't realize that was the general, or at least 'elitisit', opinion. Funny. While Immortal Pride is a standout, I actually think Dawn of Iron Blades is my favourite. I haven't heard any Graveland pre-IP.

Not quite sure why it took you so many listens to comprehend what he's doing.... that's easy, he's sucking!!! One of the worst drum sounds I've ever heard, he should collaborate with Lars. :D

There's a lot more going on than the drums. Anyway, the drums on the early albums are always something non-fans like to complain about.
