See....onward she comes..."

Is your track by track analysis going to be on one listen, or after several? I'm genuinely interested, unless of course your analysis doesn't work in mine or the bands favor. :loco:

I prefer the bass riff after the creaking ship... ("The curse it lives on in their EYYYYYEESSSS!!!!!"). Gives me chills every time I hear it.
Ugh, yeah, my goat especially on the Live After Death version.....

Well, to put it very factually, Live After Death is the greatest live album ever made. Your record collection is incomplete without it. Now, if that's a fact, am I lying?

This is probably my 3rd listen, and I'm being completely honest. Look for a bumped thread pretty soon.

Morbid Angel
Love these guys, as far as I'm concerned they are probably the most influential death metal ever, with the possible exception being Carcass or Napalm Death. Even bad Morbid Angel towers above the rest, and their live act is simply amazing. Domination also just happens to be the Best. Deathmetalalbum. EvAr.

1) Domination
2) Entangled in Chaos
3) Blessed Are the Sick
4) Altars of Madness
5) Covenant
6) Formulas Fatal to the Flesh

Sicilians were spawned from my pals.

Yeah, I know I've needed it since my Maiden infactuation in 2000, but... I've made a vow not to buy CDs the rest of the year. Actually, just to cut down massively on money that goes toward CDs... I'll probably buy some more this year when I get some extra dough now and then, but other than that, I plan on making VERY selective purchases. As in... no more.

Selective buying rules. That way you don't end up with heaps of derivative crap which probably reflects 90% of metal in general.

What's even more frustrating is buying anything that looks good, or that you've been told is a 'must have', only to have it sit in a corner for 3 months. And then finally, when you get round to it, it's either shit or your tastes have already moved on.

That's why I don't buy much anymore. My shopping list is down to about 20 CDs, and whenever I add any to it, I generally take a few off.

1. Storm of the Lights Bane
2. The Somberlain
3. Where Dead Angels Lie EP
4. The Past is Alive

Negura Bunget
They impress me every time I listen. THing is, I don't listen to them a lot, because there is better stuff out there. I can't help but think they might be a tad overrated. However, N' Crugu is amazing.
1. N' Crugu Bradului
2. Zirnindu-Sa
3. Sala Molksa
4. Maiastru Sfetnic

Dissection
Great band but I usually get tired of both albums before they finish. I can start anywhere and enjoy it, but after about 30 minutes or so I'm ready to move on. Night's Blood is one of my favorite songs ever done though, I could listen to that one all day.

Negura Bunget
Haven't listened to Sala Molksa and Zirnindu-sa more than a select few times each, but this is one group where each release is highly distinct and I have difficulty choosing a favorite. Probably 'N Crugu Bradului, just because it was my first.

Pulled out my 4 Opeth albums. Today, it's almost a chore to sit through these. They aren't bad by any means, but just too long and monotonous. Orchid, however, is still great, and will always be special. Morningrise doesn't excite me anymore other than a few mnutes in each song. MAYH has not aged well. Still Life is not much better than the craptastic Blackwater Park.

1. Orchid

2. Morningrise
3. My Arms, Your Hearse
4. Still Life

Sacred Reich
When I listen to Sacred Reich, I realize I don't need more thrash, I just need to somehow get Phil Rind to reform the band and put out more CDs. I just wish Metal Blade would re-release these albums so I wouldn't have to pay top dollar for stuff that isn't all that old.
