...its actually pretty good...all things considered.

of course i was given the mp3 from a friend which i then burnt onto a cd to put onto my computer thereby destroying the integrity of everything metallica fought napster for. i just got impatient waiting for the radio station to play it last night.

there's a couple okay parts, but the songwriting/arrangement blows and it's about 3 minutes too long.

still, way better than anything else they've done for quite some time

i mean i know it has some repetitiveness to it but it grows on me each time i listen to it. it makes me happy to hear them riffing like that again while still making it not sound exactly like master of puppets or whatever.

my biggest gripe with the song is the production. apparently they wanted to give it a raw sound which is all well and good but the drums are annoying. the cymbals specifically.

The production is the sux. It sounds like you're listening to a low fi stream or something. The guitars are buried amongst the rest of the noise. And the vox are way to up front. Other than that, there really wasn't much that grabbed me. There's that one part that has kind of a Megadeth flavor, but in general I thought it was meh.

Destroying everything Metallica fought Napster for?

Dude, they did that themselves. Didn't you hear? Lars is the new spokesman for I-Mesh.

Seriously.

No joke.

pretty good, eh? i caught half of this video this morning, and it must have been the gay half. man, the sux! sounded all noisy... and ok, so you want to recapture your previous intensity and aggression by throwing this MOP rehash riff around but not really going the whole nine and making a real song out of it? uh... what? and james' vocals suck, as expected. on a more superficial note, that rob guy needs to do something different with that hair. four braids or whatev are not cool.
