What does Borknagar you mean with the song "Om Hundredeaar er alting Glemt"(Everything is forgotten when hundredyears have past) ?

What exactly is forgotten?

Isn't that a quote that some big 19th century author said or wrote? Don't remember who... Wergeland, maybe... Not Ibsen...? But that isn't forgotten (it's proved wrong now), 'cause he's still remembered and big. Anyway, it's now just used as an expression, or so.... Mostly...

Ok, I thougt that maybe it meant something like "IN about hundred years, noone would remember the Christians, because we would go back to the -old domain-" or something... hehe

It would have been cool to get an answer from someone in the band to answer what this song means!

Everything clearly means everything, everything that has been once, thousands of years ago, and what is today might very well be lost in thousands of years from now on. Guess it more means that mankind does not really develop, doesn't build on it's achievements, just toss one thing and start another from time to time.

However I wouldn't agree fully with that statement, as we still know some little bits of what the people once knew, and are also somehow able to make educated guesses (from archaeology) - still, much is lost indeed.

Maybe it was Hamsun..... If you find who said it, you'll find what it means.

But don't think it means much more than what it sais. Almost as "time heals all wounds"...... I'll see if I can find who said it. Ask my norwegian teacher or smth.... :)

It was Hamsun.

- Knut Hamsun -

Aah, there it was! :) So it was Hamsun! yes, he was a great poet!

Then the meaning of the frase is smth like: Don't take too hard on things, and relax, 'cause in hundred years, everything's forgotten anyway! :)

Thanks, bang, for posting the poem here! :)

Hmm, the poem has two "sides" I guess... First, it is optimistic:

Then it ends with some depressing sentence...

But I don't understand norwegian fully, so I may be wrong hehe...
