OMFG Noltem artwork

He's just a good friend of mine who has done some crazy stuff. He's a very precise artist but I specifically instructed him to give this a folksy home-made look. I guess you can blame the "look" of this on me, I'm trying to find something else he's done.

Come on man, I'm sure you can come up with something better than that. Not only it's not original but the drawing looks kinda amateurish. Try some new mediums, add reliefs, play with the color tones, the contrasts etc...

I know I sound like an ass and believe me, I usually don't like to give negative comments but I'm confident you can find something better!

cheers.

ditto ... you know i praise something that is great and give my all ... but stuff that just does not work, well ... i'll be an opinionated asshole about that too :loco:

hmm...i like it better like this

*touches herself*

now it kinda looks like an upside down Superman logo :loco:

EDIT: I am drinking wine however and listening to Dean Martin ... ignore me

yeah... in all honestly I could have a picture of feces on the cover and not be too bothered by it. If anyone here is going to let an album cover sway their decision of the music a lot, then clearly they have their head up their ass.

Gotta love Max, gotta agree.

Of course it won't effect my thoughts on the music, but it still looks like shit. Just take it into photoshop, blur the sky (including northern lights), and do a default Halftone Pattern filter. I think it looks a lot better with just that.

But what do I know, I listen to a band with a cover like this:
Misantropical-Painforest-Winds-Saturate-with-Inhumane-Longing.jpg

Not a fan. [destroys Noltem tape and handwritten note]

I think Photoshop would probably help a lot, though.

EDIT: I am drinking wine

I'm drinking vine and eating chick'n! ...anybody else see Dracula, Dead and Loving It?

For anyone in the know, this is obviously a set-up. Remember when Cloudscape announced the cover art for their debut album on Blabbermouth? The backlash was enormous, Cloudscape caught wind of it, and got a fucking awesome artist to conjure new artwork that blew everyone away. You just wait and see. Maximum Johnson will...do...something.

I hope. Peas? Erik, help!

i dunno max to be honest, if you really dig it that's cool but to me something about it says "unprofessional", which i would consider a sad misrepresentation. it's not a big deal really, cover art matters to some more than others.

also m.lehto is right, it's a little too familiar...

This is pretty stress-inducing. I still feel the need to "please" my fans, and let's just say that the negative feedback definitely outweighs the positive feedback. I want it to be known that John is a fucking great artist and this looks the way it does because of my instructions. I don't really want to wait for a new piece, but I don't feel like rejecting his work... we'll see what happens I guess.

Honestly, this is a bit more pleasing to my eyes than a picture of my back yard. I still totally see where all of you are coming from. If Vintersorg's next album had a picture of an anus on the cover and he said he liked "its epic glory and majesty" I'd still be very "WTF"

or, I'd say "finally! never was there a cover more perfectly suited for the music"

At least you unveiled it early to get some feedback, you know? Cover art is pretty important (at least to me), because when I think of an album, it's the artwork that immediately springs to mind. Maybe you should keep looking around. Either way, the music will be great, I'm sure.
