Did you ever figure out which album it was I sent you (I forget which one it was, although I'm positive that it wasn't "Shadow Weaver")?

i dun't remember. in fact, i don't want to listen to it. cd-rs and mp3s are the DEVIL!!! just tell me which is your favorite and/or which album this here Needles song is on, and i'll buy it.

Okay. Buy "Nemesis Online". And "Shadow Weaver" definitely (that's the one "City of Needles" is on. Buy some blindly, I can almost guarantee that they will be quality.

www.half.com usually has a lot.

and yeah, people that listen to certain groups just to be cool are, well, lame fucking douchebags. i can understand if you're 14 and just want to fit in with a crowd to feel a sense of belonging, but once you've moved beyond puberty it's time to let that ship sail.

I'm kinda hoping that Swans escape that fad trend stuff, and I think they will just because they've been around for 15 years, so it would have happened by now.

*looks at Swans CD signed just to moi*

The penny doesn't drop even on the first hundred listens with Swans. There's too much depth to it. Like I said in my reviews, you probably have to be smacked up on heroin to truly get Gira.

Haha, yeah put a gun to his head NY stylee. :loco: Actually I bought my Swans CD's from Gira's website: http://www.younggodrecords.com/ and I'd imagine he packs/sends himself so he signs them as they leave the door. I don't know if he still does that though.

i didn't know Devin was trendy. are you serious? i like some of his stuff but dislke others (SYL)

Swans. The early stuff I heard was meh. but Great Annihilator was a very pleasant experience in listening.

I really hope Swans don't become the sort of band where people say they're cool, just to be cool.

I shouldn't think so, I hadn't seen them mentioned anywhere on a metal forum until NAD brought them up with his bunny avatar. In order to dig this kind of band, you really have to stick your head 24/24h in a bucketfull of passion for independant, unbound music creation. It's more than, say, 85% of nowadays' Opeth whores can claim for themselves.

Take Neurosis for instance, I've never witnessed a case when someone "said they were cool just to be cool". The few Neurosis lovers I know are dead serious about it.

Look, I've just realized recently that my all-time fave album is Dirge - And Shall the Sky Descend, and I'm 100% sure I'm their number one hailer under the sun, and I feel like I'm standing at the top of the Empire State Building with all the "be cool to be cool" planes humming all around me, but they'll never take me down! Ook!

I'm listening to a bit off this Various Failures double-CD...am I far off if the first band they remind of is Joy Division, in a way? And no, it's not just because they cover "Love Will Tear Us Apart" on the 2nd disc either (though that prolly helped, lol).

Can someone post some samplings of this band? I'm a Swans virgin. Pop my cherry you heathens!

Also which is a good album to pick up?

Cheers and Merry Xmas ye toadstools.

Various Failures is the best place to start. I'll upload some tracks like ummmm probably tomorrow or Monday if someone else doesn't first, it takes 14 hours to upload 15k and i'm leaving in like, 10 minutes.

oh yeah, and Nate was the one to bring them to this board's attention originally.
