OMFG

Unfortunately the people who "need it", most likely don't need it and end up abusing it and ruining it for the people who could actually profit from taking it. Nobody ever said that beating your kids, hating yourself, and spreading bigotry are okay. C'mon dude!

They've found in study after study that the benefits outweigh the risks of legalization. I'm not a smoker, so in that respect, I could care less if is made legal or not. Don't really think it is harmful enough to warrant banning, but whatever, no strong opinion there either way.

However, I know a guy who is forced by his doctor to take opiates for his back pain(I think he's on Vicodin, but I might be wrong), rather than something which isn't addictive. He doesn't want any of that mess, but he hasn't a choice. It's either that or nothing.

He told me he's been taking the exact same dosage of the medicine for five years. You can imagine how that's going for him.

In no way am I saying that the actual drug is bad. I consider it on par with booze. I drink, so if I said that weed was bad then I would be a hypocrite. I have friends who do it and I could care less. Weed is a good pain/stress reliever and like I said its good for people who could profit from it, like your friend. I just don't think that it would be good enough product for the government to Tax, too many people could just grow it in their backyards... Then I would have to smell it. I hate the smell of that shit.

The government taxes alcohol, yet (in California) you can brew up to 40 gallons of beer a year noncommercially. I.e., the law anticipates such "hobbyists", and the issue was medical legalization, not recreational use, anyway.

Just sayin'.

The world is going to hell in a hand basket. Look around you. This happens. 90% of the world's population can't see beyond themselves, and I think I'm being generous in believing 10% actually can.

Anyway, my point was that the amount of things going on each and every fucking day on this planet which are ten fold worse than any form of drug seem to be glorified, ignored, overlooked or forgotten, yet here we are debating this like it's even a debate.

I think it should be legalized, nobody will ever stop people from smoking pot, legal marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco should be taxed and used to fund a public health care system

I do believe WD was saying something about taxing more than just medical usage here.
Just quote'n

My friend I love your sunny disposition, I believe the world is getting much better. I honestly think that you're smart enought to realize the world is a much better place than it was say a few hundred years ago. I do get that you're trying to say that we should be focusing on other things much more vast than just trying to fight one mind altering drug that really doesn't have much more of a side effect than hunger and forgetfullness. I wasn't really debating the effect of the drug so much as the Income that the government will actually get from legalizing it. Like I said, its nothing more than alcohol except that it stinks and would be easier for the average Joe to grow.

You live in the wrong state/county then amigo

Tell me about it... heres the deal, I belong to a hunting club (or at least my family does) thats on a quite a few acres of land out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. Apparently people decided to grow out on that land, and protect it with dogs. When the growing season was done they just decided to let them go free, rather than having to deal with them. Of course they turned into pack animals and are a shoot to kill in our club. We do have kids out there... My sister in law actually shot and killed one who was getting dangerously close to her 3yr old. So go figure. IDK about you, but that make me less happy about people who grow it. Just saying.
