One amp in your studio...which one?

I don't like rectifiers, yuck never got it to work. Kemper seems to be the obvious one today but other then that i love my JSX to death!

i'll throw in an engl fireball. awsome clean, awsome lead, great crunch. not too pricey, if you live in germany. if lasse talked you into that mudballbullshit (no hard feelings, lasse ;-) ) than get a savage

TSEX50v2 for 5150/6505, and LePou's Recto are the closest I've used. That being said, both are missing that clear, thick saturation that you get with the real deal. They're definitely fun to mess around with, though

oh you want to use it with impulse cabs. get an engl 530. ultra versatile, great sounding studio amp, no loadbox needed, still home rehearseable and you can build a great rig with low extra cost for live

Does it sound more like a Savage or Powerball? The only ENGL I like is the Savage. Never tried the 530 preamp.

Fun thread. I'll play but I'm not going to be very original.
I'd keep my Axe FX II over all choices, but if I could only have 1 actual amp it would hands down be the 5150.

If it had to be an amp I'd go 51503 or a mesa roadster. As others have said, when I actually did have to choose one I bought a kemper.

Been watching some videos on the Kemper and the thing I like the most about it is that you have knobs to physically turn, just like an amp. It's not a bunch of button mashing and scrolling through screens to get what you want it to do. This is one of the reasons I sold my Axe-Fx. I'm a pretty simple plug-n-play kind of guy. Give me an amp, a chorus, phaser, delay and maybe an overdrive pedal...and I'm good.

If you want one amp that will do great cleans, crunch, rhythm dist and lead, I would say that the best option is the Mesa Mark V.

Given the option a Kemper for sure, BUT if I only had one amp to go with it would be a Krank Nineteen80, Quality Cleans, Does everything from AC/DC to Death Metal with just a TS9 if need be.
I owned and sold the kemper. It does NOT sound like an amp, the top end is crap, just harsh, and the mids are non-existing.

LOL ... well considering Andy & Wagener are using it as their main tones, I will take their trained ear opinion over some guy who named himself after an 80 Mortal combat character.
Clueless that my name is over a thousand years old, a lot of Golden ears praised digital aswell, and see what happened.
