everytime i read a story about some little kid getting there face ripped off, or basicly any dog attack here in richmond, It is always a pit bull.................It no wonder why people want the m "banned".........................

Come on Old School.....I mean how do you ban a living thing??
Besides 9 out of 10 times it's the owners fault!! It doesn't take much to
make these already aggressive dogs crazy (I've owned 2 in my life)

If you love them and treat them right....there loyal
If you feed them gunpowder in there food, starve them, hurt them,
they snap...Just like anyone would.

Instead of banning a species of dog, how about crazy strict laws and licensing
that would guarantee jail time for abusive owners and people who get these dogs for unlawful reasons (Many drug dealers have pits at there places)

Just my opinion....But I think these dogs get a bad rap

Although, I agree with what you mean T-man. I really don't like these dogs, just last night in Lansing, 2 kids got attacked by a pitbull and it fucked them up badly one kid is critical condition. These were kids just walking down the street and the dog jumped the fence and attacked them. Proper training with these dogs is key but I don't know, just looking at them makes me uneasy. To me they have eyes like a shark(no emotion, just wants to kill) A couple of weeks ago, I was pulling into my driveway and this dude was running down the street with his pit, but the messed up thing was the dog was pulling two cinderblocks behind it. It was the most ghetto thing I have seen in awhile kinda funny but man I just know what that guy was training his dog for.

i'm a huge dog lover, eventhough i do not own a pit and am not a big fan of them, i still think a ban is wrong, instead the law should require the dog to always have a muzzle while in public (in that means even in your backyard if they're not on a leash) and training that the state would enforce on the owner. also if any incident happens, then the owner should be the one penalized since he is the person responsible for it. I've seen pits that were trained from birth to be fighting dogs and that's kinda sad. the last one i saw was a puppy and i was playing with him, this is what the owner told me: Wow dude you cant be afectionate otherwise he wont fight anymore, and if that happens he'll be put asleep" and then the guy said to me "if you keep playing with him he'll yours, but it will cost you $500" i almost wanted to take it but my budget didnt allow me to so he'll to become a fighter, its kinda sad the world we live in these days.

I agree with you 100%!!

I don't think making muzzles for any outdoor activity is a bad idea..

And unkind treatment or training these dogs to fight should be punishable by a stay in prison..Let the asshole owner see how it feels to be treated badly!!

I know. The whole idea of raising a dog from a puppy for the sole purpose of it fighting to the death just makes my stomach turn. I love dogs, I have a black and tan coon hound and I couldn't imagine anything happening to him. The muzzle idea is a pretty good one, Oily. It's funny I never heard of the whole gun powder thing until last night. That is just messed up. I just can't understand why anyone would want to be cruel to animals...Yes they can be frustrating at times(when they are puppies it is like raising a child) but I would never dream of intentionally hurting my dog or any dog for that matter. Pits aren't my favorite dogs but with restrictions I think people should be able to have them....Just sucks that there are so many bad apples ruining it for others....

whoa.......hold on there ........I didnt say they should be banned, I said it was no wonder people want to ban them.

It is the owners responcability 100%, they should make it:
if your dog kills someone, you get arrested for man slaughter
if your dog maims someone, you get charged attempted murder
if your dog attacks someone but doesnt hurt them = assault

every single fuck here (in richmond) with a pit bull who attacked someone said "it not my fault ,so and so teased, threw something at ,tried to pet,ect ect." whatever, they all had a excuse.

that was the first 3 of many news article about pitbull attacks

MORIBUND88, would you want to go to jail for a man-slaughter charge if you dog ,one day decided to grab some kid and kill it?

Petey from the Little Rascals was a Pitbull.

Spuds Mackenzie was a Pitbull.

They're using Pitbulls in the new Target commercials.

It's the breeding of these dogs that is the problem. A lot of inbreeding going on there. And yes, the owners train them to be deadly too.

I don't think any animal should be banned, but i definitely think the owners of these dogs should be held responsible for turning them into a dangerous dog in the first place.

I am currently the proud owner of a pit bull. Yes, I say proud, because my dog is the nicest, sweetest, most lovable dog I've ever owned. He gets the shit kicked out of him by my other dog...and that dog is half chihuahua, half pomeranian. Yes, he plays, rough, but the only time I've heard of him being aggresive is when a group of dogs at the park surrounded him. and no one was hurt, no dog was bit, he just growled enough to get them away. And you know what? I was also smart enough to not bring him back there...why? because I don't want to risk it.

The pit breeds were all bred as hunters and fighters. They are naturally aggressive. But they are not naturally killers. When treated poorly, their aggressive tendencies get more extreme. When not trained properly, they are slightly, slightly, more wild than the average dog. But they are NOT evil nor are they murderous, with only killing on their mind. Its unfortunate, but some scum sucking pieces of shit give these dogs bad reps. No dog should be a fighter. Thats horrible.

Also, the guy with the pit pulling cinder blocks: there are contests for pit bulls called weight pulling contests. Sounds simple enough right? Whatever dog is the strongest, pulls the most weight, and wins. No fighting, no harm done (the weights are supposed to be on wheels). So he may have been training for that, though he should have had a harness and like i said, wheels for the weights.

I know quite a few people, including my next door neighbor, who have pits and the are friendly. I think if they ban pitbulls it will only open the door to banning other animals. They are trying to ban reptiles over a certain length here in vegas. I have a 6 1/2 red tail boa that Ive had since it was less then a foot long and I;ll be damned if they are gonna take it away from me. Its the owners responsibilty to control their pet not the goverment.
