Operation Flashpoint : Dragon Rising

i have to admit that i am dissapointed about a few things
but i'll surely buy it at the release day no matter what happens!:D

What things?

the developers main focus on "realism" just fucks me up...because
they deal with wrong realism appendage IMHO.

instead of making a huuuuuuge terrain, which will actually never be used
they should have concentrated on things like character movement,
a realistic damage system etc.

i just saw a new gameplay footage trailer.
the 1st person gun movement makes me think of
controling a robot or a squirrel on speed or something, that's not realistic.
you can walk, run, crouch and prone..that's it.
the is no "taking cover" option,
even the leaning seems to got kicked out:(

hope you can retrace what i mean exactly:)

cheers
S.

I've had ARMA II since the release day, and it's still unplayable for me. Used to bog really bad, I couldn't even play the Red Harvest mission... Now after the last patch, it crashes every time during the mission loading screen. What a waste of money that was.

Codemasters did a great job with the original OFP and it's add ons. I have very high hopes for this release.

after that e3 demo and the guy said something like "i've been shot in the head! i'm okay, but i'm bleeding badly" as though it was a common thing i have refused to even give this game the time of day.
arma 2 may be buggy as all hell but at least it sticks to its pledge of unwavering realism while OFP2 looks more like battlefield: bad company 2, which is a damn shame.

Realism is for naught if it comes at the expense of poor gameplay mechanics. The only reason sims like IL-2 are so popular are because there is a good game underneath all those flight models and trajectory calculations.

OFP2 looks like it's going for accessibility, but at the very least we can hope for some more polish, and something that's actually playable out of the box.

very true though
as much as i love bohemia's dedication to realism, arma 2 has sat on my shelf for quite a while.

i'll put all my hopes into the "HARDCORE" mode, no hud, no markers, no saving and most important, fatal headshots!

Yeah I agree, it looks like they were trying to cater to the console guys, which is where the money is at. All the good game series I used to love were destroyed when they started releasing them on consoles.(Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon come to mind) They have to 'dumb the game down' so that it works on Xbox or whatever.

i called it
I FUCKING CALLED IT
DID I NOT?! :D

And Wolf, I really dig the new, less realistic direction Ubi have been taking with the Clancy stuff actually. But that's just my penchant for double standards rearing its ugly head again I suppose.
I dunno. Rainbow Six Vegas was a REALLY fucking good game IMO, but let's just pretend the MP doesn't exist. I mean gameplay mechanics aside, think about how much fucking grittier the Clancy shit is getting now.
It's all dark as fuck now, which I'm digging the hell out of. First time I played the RSV demo I was a little bit taken aback with the hostage part, you sneaking up on the room, hearing the "turrrrrists" yelling all manner of shit at the hostages, trails of blood all over the place, then them yelling frenzied swear words when you flashbang the place and run in amongst the confusion.
Splinter Cell Conviction is also looking sweet too. It's about time Sam got GENUINELY nasty. Can't wait to bust some heads through wash basins in dingy backstreet public toilets. FUCK YEAH.

But I dunno. I guess all the Clancy stuff getting less realistic doesn't offend me quite as much. The only Clancy franchise I was really into was Splinter Cell and Conviction just seems like the sum of a natural progression throughout the series rather than just a random leap like the Rainbow Six stuff.
Rogue Spear was the shit though..

Yeah I was very disappointed with this crap release. It was totally a console port, which sucks(I called that one a few posts up). The single player campaign blew ass chunks. All the aircraft and vehicles that are in this game, and the single player campaign only lets you drive a HMMWV once. And without dedicated servers, multiplayer is a fucking joke, most players ping at around 300+.

Oh well, at least I know I won't be disappointed with Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

The same radio shit pisses me off the most....."dagger one this is dagger.....hard copy? dagger this is dagger one full copy" etc.....for every checkpoint!

I still can't believe they didn't include a nice set of quick missions, like the original OFp had and also the ArmA series.... It did come with a mission editor, but it won't open on my PC so I can't set up some missions to fly choppers and drive tanks.

BTW, I beat the campaign on hardcore in 9 hours. Totally not long enough. And what's up with the bullet trajectories? In real life i can hit a 300m target standing up all day long.... In this game it takes me 10 center mass shots to hit a target one time...

And the AI suckssssssss
