Is there a big Opeth fan base where you all live? In my town there are maybe 3 people that listen to them. Everyone else listens to rap :puke:

In my school there were three people that liked them including me. I was walking down the hall one day and a guy walked past me wearing an Opeth shirt. I almost died of shock.

I am lucky that a high school buddy of mine (I'm 39) and I love metal no matter what it is. He got me into Opeth and it took one song and one listen to love this band.

I have yet to convince any of my local friends that like grunge and rap metal to give this band a chance. I love getting people to realize a gem when they hear it but it is nice to go to concerts where everyone in the crowd knows what I am talking about. As fans, a concert is the best forum and it is so much fun to all GET IT:headbang:

BTW - Any IN FLAMES fans out there?

I can't get any of my immediate friends into them. They are either rap fans or alternative fans. There is however, one guy that comes into my work who is into opeth and all the prog rock also.

I got my bf to like them. Before he met me he had never listened to anything like opeth with the growling and everything so at first he probably thought it was a little different, but now he likes it. We are going to see them this Thursday. I cant wait. I used to make my mom listen to them in the car all the time. she goes "they sound like devils!" haha she said she liked the music though. I wish there were more people around here that are into metal. I can't drive down the street without hearing "nurrbody inda club gettin' tipsy" It's so annoying.

No one around my area even knows who they are, especially in my school. But that could be because I go to a private prep school and everyone there is either preppy and listens to crap or listens to rap.

I know two people that really like Opeth. One of them lives half a mile away from me and the other one I go to school with. But I do get comments from random people sometimes when I'm out and about wearing an Opeth shirt...

Tons. I think you guys just don't know who they are, but there's a lot out there. There was a time when even online it was RARE to find anyone into Opeth. It was kinda cool actually. Now you could go to a message board on bodybuilding and find a handful of Opeth fans. Opeth is pretty damn popular now. In my uni on any given day i see at least 1 Opeth shirt. Consider that not that many fans of the band even have an Opeth shirt, and that i doubt they wear it more than once a week at MOST, probably more like once a month, that means there's a fuckload of them around. In fact, i think i see more Opeth shirts at school than any other band.

About 6 others in my grade at school, more in other years, perhaps totalling 12. I have done my best to spread the good word. some of us even played Demon of the Fall and Deliverance in assembly once.

Yea, but im sure your area is much more populated than Maple Ridge( a suburb of Vancouver)
I hate maple ridge, too many hardcore cowboy rednecks except for Devin Townsend, he's cool. Go Langley!

I work at Nordstrom in Seattle... had a long conversation with like the only other person who works in that store(there's 900 employees there total)... he went to the show tonight too^_^.
