Hi,

My name is Raul. I've been working on death metal vocals for a little over a year now. Lately I figured out that I've been doing them "wrong" from most of the time and it's a good thing that I caught up on that before I damaged my voice. You know, the usual, I was doing them from the throat and they sounded pretty pathetic honestly.

Now about two days ago I think I finally figured out the "proper way". Now my throat is completely relaxed and I feel zero pain or strain after. So that's a good sign, right?

Anyway my brain has tricked me quite a few times into thinking that I'm sounding half decent only to be shattered the day after by listening to them and discovering that they are actually quite bad.

This time I think I've gotten it down much better than before. I'll let you decide on that though since I know easily one can get deluded into thinking that they are doing something good, when they actually are not.

I got the backing track off youtube so no original vocals in the back - just mine. As for effects all I did was a little EQ (more highs, less meds) and added the same kind of reverb that Mikael used in the original track.

So here it is:

I cut out the clean parts since I can't sing at all, lol.

Note that I've only been doing vocals like this for 2 days and before that I did that horrible throat thing so I have a lot to polish.

So please lemme know if I'm going in the right direction and what you think. Thanks! :)

Added some compression for volume issues and a noise gate for the quiet parts and unnecessary reverb tails. All I'm asking is if I'm going in the right direction or not. Since I haven't done my new technique for even a week yet I know that I probably have a ways to go.
