Opeth - Watershed

I've listened to Watershed multiple times now, with headphones as well as blasting at full volume in stereo. Conclusion: this album sucks. One time, it bored me to the point where I removed the phones and took a nap.

I realize now why Peter left the band. He'd rather work in IT than play this garbage.

I was surprised by it when I heard the leak...definitely a lot better than I expected. I never again thought I'd say this about a new Opeth album, but I plan to buy it.

There are some really nice moments on here but they are too few and too far between. I'm not sure what I was listening to prior, but this almost seems like something else. Damn whiskey. Quoting myself rules, btw.

LOL.
I bought the special edition btw and it has a DVD on it. I can't understand a fucking word these guys are saying. They should just speak in Swedish and have subtitles. Further, the band is so goddam low-key I wanted to scream. How do they manage to stay awake in each other's company?

It was even better when I read a writeup of the album when the title was first released, and ran it through the Ebonics translator.. = Boozeshed.

I bought the special edition, as well. I haven't had a chance to watch the DVD but I never really intended to, anyway. I bought it for the bonus tracks...which I haven't listened to yet. I must have been drunk when listening to the leak because this really isn't doing much for me. I'm from the Dept of Redundancy Dept.

I havent listened to the bonus tracks yet either :loco:
I've decided that this album isn't as bad as I first thought.

At first I thought Mikael was just looking to expand his fanbase (and his wallet......not that I can find fault in that) but after several listens, I think he's just writing whatever he feels like. More power to him for that...even if I no longer appreciate their sound.

LOL.

Care to give me a brief run down of this "documentary"? If it's anything like the one on Lamentations, I'll gladly spring the extra 5 notes for it.

haha! It's basically Lamentations Revisited. Filmed in Mikael's house in the same chairs and couches. NOTHING has been moved in what? 4 years?
There are some good studio segments that helped me appreciate the album a bit more, too.
Don't forget that there are three bonus tracks as well as a 5.1 mix of the album on the bonus disc too...if you're into that sort of thing.
Worth the extra $5 imo.
