Hey guys,
I'd like to say that, while I was a student at GIT, I saw In Flames on August 18th, 2000, I think, and Jesper was cool enough to stop by for a bit. Bjorn was also on a payphone, but I didn't want to bother him. I might have said something to them both, if I wasn't shitting myself in disbelief. Both seemed very cool, if Jesper didn't seem a bit stressed and pressured for time, a la Jerry Cantrell when he was in Alice In Chains (that is, keeping track of/running everything).

Any opinions on ideal guitar duos? Chuck Schuldiner of Death is my favorite guitarist stylistically, and it was tragic to lose him to brain cancer two years ago. I was thinking he and Jeff Waters of Annihilator would sound great together.

By the way, is there anything out there faster than Dimmu Borgir's "Behind the Curtains of Night"? I can't believe the tempo...

It's like reading the thoughts of a schizophrenic. :)

as for faster songs, be sure to check out
the crown - death metal holocaust
also god dethroned is a tad faster than dimmu, methinks.

and guitarists shouldn't wank all the time while they're on stage, so i guess a bolt thrower guitarist plus james hetfield would be ideal :D rhythm's all you need :)

Bolt Thrower...there's a name I haven't heard in a while...currently listening to Napalm Death's Inside the Torn Apart...and speaking of Hetfield and the age old question, I stood by Metallica during the Load era and started out doing Load covers (whilst still loving death metal), so all you whiners...hush up :)

One thing I DO wish our Gothenburg guys would stop doing is releasing all these bonus tracks. I managed to track down "I, Deception" and bought the Japanese import to get "The Poison Well" which was really good enough to be on the US version...one of my favorites. Also like Dimension Zero because I missed hearing from Glenn, and what the hell is up with dropping Jim Kjiell from Gardenian?! Soulburner was one of the heaviest records out there, tone wise...

Haven't heard Soilwork yet...is it worth my Maiden frenzy of the late 90s when I bought every CD in the discography in a matter of 3 months?

Regards,
Aaron

Any opinions on Michael Amott's work with Carcass and Arch Enemy?

Did Nicklas Englin start any new bands after he left Gardenian?

Sorry about topic changes, just posting as I think of questions...

Oh, and Sinergy's really f'in hard to play, but Lacuna Coil rocks and is nice and easy on the guitarist.

Inflames626> Hm, Niklas Engelin never left Gardenian? He's doing catchy stuff now with Fridén and others in Passenger these days but I'm sure you already know all about that... However, as I recall it, Jim Kjell left Gardenian due to personal reasons. Guess he wanted to have some spare time and all that, he wasn't dropped anyhow.

The Forsaken ... insanely fast. One hell of a good death metal band. Arts of Desolation is the only album I have heard by them, but it is absolutely a good one.

I'm sorry my friend but I think you're wrong, he left before Sindustries, check the liner...was replaced by Kris (never knew the last name), who was replaced by the bassist on guitar I think, and a new singer and bassist came on board...Thim Blom is the only original member left.

I just love the tone on Soulburner, too...

It's just that you rarely see the guy who wrote most of the songs (Jim) leave a band...much less a band's two starting guitar players leave it (Def Leppard is the only band I can think of atm)...
