Hey guys, I'm getting this mix ready for mastering and I wanted to get some opinions

[SOUNDCLOUD]http://soundcloud.com/crimson-recording/awip-final-1/s-i0oRc[/SOUNDCLOUD]

The riff that starts @ 0:10 is supposed to have every other snare with some extended reverb, I tried to do it but is not cutting thru enough..any suggestions..i don't really like this but the band requested it:bah:

Also the band wants more 808's :bah: but i feel is gonna overdo it...any suggestions with that as well?..lol

Also any comments on the mix would be awesome

Thanks

sounds fucking awesome! i love the guitar tone...

all this needs is a proper mastering and you're set.....!

hit me up if you're searching for mastering engineers!

ugh... i just finished talking to them, they wanted a total of nine 808 drops in this one song..i was able to talk them down to 6...still..so fkn obnoxious, i cant even take the song seriously anymore...how do u guys deal with crap like this man?

Oh and wtf does it mean when someone tells you "i want a lot of snare in this part"

LOL I've dealt with that before. At the end of the day, you're the engineer and you make the calls. Tell them too many 808s is retarded - better yet, ask them if any of them know what an 808 is.

In this situation I give my suggestion, but do what the band asks....then never listen to the song again after the project is done;) More snare to me means they just want it to cut, so it is more prominent. Sometimes it is volume automation that I missed.

the mix seems pretty good, idk i feel that the guitar's are way to weak sounding for this style tho, it could have been a lot meaner for sure.

But i think it's about as heavy as your going to get with a rockverb.

This sorta sounds like this band Omari. Vocals and mix are very similar. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5g_mnbHcS0&feature=related[/ame]

Also, nine 808s is ridiculous. Six is just as ridiculous. Put in two or three and then tell them anymore would be stupid.

remember, bass bombs don't always have to be the most obvious sounding thing in the world..... SOME PARTS (very few in a single song) need to kind of stick out but I use the rest as a time to make it seem like the ground is about to smash to bits (visually speaking).

there's probably at least 10 bombs in every song I mix (INCLUDING Betraying the Martyrs). just like everything else, ya gotta make it an art form =D

oh yeah dude...i totally get it!...and I that was one of the options I brought up to them...but the answer I kept getting was "Nah, but do you have any 808 samples that go longer? cause they should be more noticeable" :u-huh:

I just gave up and added what they wanted...they want to come back for an EP and I don't wanna lose their business for being stubborn..oh well you win some u lose some hehe
