.:OT:. Funniest Mac video ever

I really hope there is a merger of technologies, or one party simply becomes obsolete/non-existent, so instead of getting our panties in a twist, we can all laugh together. I honestly wouldn't have cared if this was about PCs, or Commodore 64's.. it's hilarious to me, regardless how fictional.

Well, its all ego. People like to feel superior.

DUH.

Aaaaahh touché!!! [/Homer voice]

I like to think the joke is on anyone slinging mud at either Macs or PCs, makes me feel superior.

On a side note, it's the same thing with Kirk Hammet bashing. Kids who got into metal and into playing guitar because of Metallica suddenly think they are 'beyond that' once they find out Kirk is not the fastest shredder after all. Guess what suckers, I'm far beyond being beyond what you will ever be beyond and I feel superior for appreciating Kirk. Ha!

Crap, due to this post I'm 10 minutes late for my Superiors Anonimous meeting.

P.S. If anyone would actually take this post seriously, that would be quite disturbing.

This has nothing to do with ego, this has to do with accuracy, or the lack thereof in this case with respect to that video. If the creator is really so experienced, then why would he put together a video that is this innacurate? It's less funny because it has no bearing in reality.

And I would hate to see a single-platform world. Multiple platforms are great, and I would like to see more spring up. I'm also a big fan of YellowTab Zeta OS and Linux, but for music production and multimedia in general, nothing beats Mac. Hell, even Microsoft Office is better on the Mac. The only thing that's better in the Windows world is games, which I don't really care about. I have a PS2 and a GameCube if I want to play games...

How exactly does MS Office run better? Actually, I use OpenOffice because its free and it runs just fine on my PC. And for multimedia I just use Media Player, Winamp, what ever plays the songs. I don't play games anymore, so I dont' really worry about my PC running the latest games. I have looked at getting into Macs, but I'm a PC man at heart, and my baby has been good to me. A few of my friends have old Mac iBooks and they seem pretty good.

Remo, he did't mean for playing audio, even though playing audio on a Mac even seems better, lol. But he meant in production of all kinds of multimedia. Being video, music, film, radio, graphic design...all of that, it's just better on a Mac. Even Microsoft used Macintosh computers to develop it's flagship game, Halo. Sony's studios don't even use Vegas or PC's, they use ProTools HD systems with Macs. It's not uncommon.

Microsoft's Office for Mac runs better than the Windows version, is what he means. It's coded completely different for the Macintosh operating system, and that version, and I say this from experience, runs much better than Office for Windows. Kind of funny.

Anyway, I didn't mean for this thread to turn into this...it was meant for laughs...which some people got, and others....well....it went right over their heads it seems. Oh well. All "good things" must come to an end, eh?

Actually, I suggest doing a little reseach on Hunter Cressall. He's far from being a clueless dork.
done...

...and now i think he's even more ridiculous. yes, all platforms can and will crash, but he's gone and created a video that HAS scared people away from the Mac platform that would be much better off with Mac. and he KNOWS they would be, as he himself is an avid mac user. He's just too wrapped up being a smartass than in being helpful.

here's a letter he got, followed by his response:

Subject: Mac Spoof

Hi,

I just saw your mac spoof video and... i gotta admit,
it was hilarious... but there are a couple of points
that made me think "BULLSHIT!".

One thing - when you drag and drop things, you DO move
them. Windows is the shit OS that doesn't do it
properly. Windows creates aliases everywhere.

And as for renaming your system file - who the hell
'accidentally' does that? If you do happen to screw up
a file name - you can always undo it if it's still
selected.

Windows though, is another story... this is the OS
that installs things EVERYWHERE.... even if you TRY to
specify a location. It's also the only OS that
corrupts it's own files, and where hard disk space
mysteriously disappears.

Not to mention - it's the only system stupid enough to
launch multiple copies of the same app... using up
more RAM than it should.

Why don't you do a parody on Windows?

i think i will.

I've been using the Mac for 16 years. The reason? It
IS easier to use. It crashes less than any Windoze
machine i've used... and it's just more USER FRIENDLY.

Currently, i still use a mac... and it hasn't ruined
anything i've ever been working on... not ONCE. Not
even when working with video.

Dear Steve,

I think it's wonderful that you want to do a Windows parody.
Unfortunately it won't have the effect you are looking for because everyone
already knows Windows is a steaming pile of crap. The reason I chose to do a
Mac Parody was that everything in the Parody happened pretty much as
described that very week while rushing to get a show done for Happy Nowhere.
We nearly didn't make it. I'm sure the same crap would have happened on a
PC based system but then again, Windows doesn't actually advertise that
their OS "never crashes". Mr. Gates simply plugs the line "20% more stable"
(whatever the hell THAT means) and then quickly adds "Look! A duck!"

The file renaming debacle happened on OS 9 actually and we (my company and
Apple Computers) still aren't sure what happened. The edit on that line
made it appear to be an OS X problem.

I also think it's wonderful that you have been using Macs for 16 years. I
still own my original Apple II and my Apple IIe. I've worked on a Apple
Lisa, Apple III business series, Apple IIgs and the wonderful Apple IIc
which I nearly purchased. I've owned the first Mac, the Mac 512, the
forgotten Fat Mac and wrote papers on the secret Mac II color which only a
few lucky college students in the fall of 1986 got to use - it was never
mass produced. I've used the Mac IIes and pretty much everything up through
our shiny new Mac G5 dual processor - if it ever actually ships. We ordered
the first one. I mean the VERY first one. I mean when Mac screwed up and
announced the Dual G5 on its web page a week early for three hours, my boss
was on the phone THAT morning. They tell me October now.

Anyway, there isn't anyone more Mac than I am. I just don't like their
advertising campaign which claims that just because one embeds a Unix kernel
under a redundant operating system that such an operating system is
uncrashable. We edit HD broadcast television. You want a dead Mac? Give
us twenty minutes and a deadline.

As for your system never crashing? The mind reels. All computers crash.
It's part of the service contract. Even the IIe will hang if properly
motivated. Maybe you just aren't trying hard enough...

And just so there is no confusion on the matter, working with OS X after
three years of OS 9 is like crawling out of a dessert on your hands only to
find yourself at the feet of a guy holding your legs who tells you "Here,
try these..."

But it's wonderful that my parody inspired you to write us. Good luck on
your parody. Better luck crashing your system in the future.

Oh, and lest we forget, eMac.

Sincerely,

Hunter Cressall <<

Steve is right.... so is Hunter. the difference is Steve didn't create a video that gives a false impression to viewers who are not as knowledgeable as either one of them are, or that flys in the face of his own preferences as Hunter did.

Hunter may not be clueless but he missed the mark with this video... it's not just given a chuckle to "in the know" Mac users, as it's clear by his writings he intended it to do, rather it's scared off a good number of potential Mac users and sent them to the PC platform that he himself shuns in favor of Mac. oh well, more power to him, but he IS a dork. btw, my little brother has a 1.25 eMac and runs DP 4.5 on it and has had no serious problems at all.

since i got my mac wich was like 4 months ago or so, windows just isnt the same. it feels outdated.

hilarious video in my opinion either way. true or not true

James,

You're taking this WAY too seriously. Are really concerned that he scared folks away from a MAC? Fuck, if they are that stupid, they probably shouldn't own a computer in the first place. I don't need those idiots sucking up my bandwidth.

There's no need to make a windows parody. They have enough real life video examples such as the BSOD at the comdex when they were showing windows 98 for the first time as a "stable" operating system. I witnessed firsthand the crash of XP at WinHEC 2000 in New Orleans in front of the largest gathering of geeks in the country. Once again, Bill was spouting off about its stability.

I'm not going to go into which is platform is better. They both have their high points and low points. You can only blame Steve Jobs for MAC's lack of the marketshare. You can't continually demand a 44% profit margin when you only have <5% of the marketshare. Steve needs to pay close attention the Xbox. Microsoft took a gamble and it is just now starting to pay off.

In fact, Steve likes to fuck up great ideas. ITunes is already starting the feel the pinch from savy music listeners that know paying 99 cents per song is a fucking joke when you can pay $14.95 a month to access 1 million songs from Rhapsody or Napster. ITunes is set to move in that direction later this year. They better move fast or they will be sitting on another "Lisa".

People are taking this stuff to seriously.

It was a good for a laugh, not something worth anymore then that.

If you know its not true and you think mac is the way to go.....well then go that way. Just stop acting like someone insulted you personally, it is just a computer.

The vid is a parody. If a person is as stupid to take somone kicking a monitor around seriously then why would you want someone like that wasting your mac resourses?

If your a mac user and you found that funny (even if you thought it was totally false) then good for you, you obviously know how to take a joke and dont allow yourself to get caught up in this PC vs MAC war.

Taking a computer preference this far is kinda crazy. ITS A BOX OF SWITCHES PEOPLE!

Smoke a joint, sit back and chill.

HAHAHAHAHAH, nicely done Nitro.

And James...isn't this like the 1,000,000,000,000,000th time somebody has tried to assume your mood from one of your posts? Lol.
