I HATE when people smack their guitar - it's like they can't think of anything to play, so they resort to giving the body or fingerboard a whack.

That said, that was incredibly badass.

I like it if they do something neat with the hitting of the guitar. I think it's cool how an acoustic guitar can be a percussive instrument as well. In a way you can fill in all aspects of a band and be a "one man band." If they pull of the hitting with some neat hits here and there, etc. it's really sweet.
