I know you are a HUGE Jimmy Buffett fan. Have you ever been to his restaurant chain "Cheeseburgers In Paradise"? I just went to one outside of Chicago and know they have one in Atlanta. Unbelievable burgers. The vortex in Atlanta also rocks BTW.

I went to the Vortex in atl, it was good stuff

+1

Not only do they have Atlanta's Best Burgers (as voted on by the readers of Creative Loafing), but they also have the best bathrooms in Little Five Points (as voted on by my homeless-waif street-poet friend 'Moebius' :)).

If I could change one thing in this city, I'd mandate that The Vortex's L5P location stay open for two hours after shows end at the nearby Masquerade.

I've a feeling this thread's gonna get moved to the Lounge soon. :)

I have not been to one. However, let me clear up one misconception. It is not "Jimmy's chain." He licensed the name out to the Outback (Steakhouse) corporation that run it. Jimmy owns & runs the "Margaritaville chain that I have been to in Key West, New Orleans Orlando, & Myrtle Beach.

After eating at The Vortex, I couldn't eat hamburgers anywhere else for a few weeks. That place turns hamburgers into high cuisine as far as I am concerned.

I've been to his place in Key West but we didnt stay and eat we just got souvenirs.

Vortex was really good too, they have a great menu and beer selection. That's a place that would be awesome in any city.

For those of you in Chicago you cant top this place for burgers and beer. The beer selection is not huge but really amazing, Left Hand Milk Stout and Lagunitas Cappuccino Stouts on tap plus lots of other amazing beers. Then you have the burgers which I think are some of the best the city has to offer. There are plenty different ones and each one is named after a metal band.

I have been the Cheese-burger in Paradise in Honolulu and they have a chicken salad sanwich to die for. Also the vortex is awe inspiring as far as burgers go, here in Texas we have What-A-Burger chain that is excellent also, but for the best in El Paso, it has to be Roscoe's, Huge 1/2 lb burgers made fresh while you sit there and wait, with grilled onions put on the burgers as they cook, my mouth is wartering, so i guess it's Roscoe's for dinner tonite.

I spent one VERY drunken evening at the one in NOLA. Same night my co-worker & I forgot where we parked, and had a nice long walk through the not so nice parts of New Orleans.....:zombie:

In Plano, TX(also in allen, frisco, and mckinney), we have Scottie P's, and nothing can top their burgers and buffalo chicken tenders(and their fries and onion rings are kick ass), and also I really like the burgers at fuddruckers, and if I am going to get a fast food burger A&W all the way

Best burger in the world is at The Road House in Duck, NC. Second place is The Rec Room in Towson, MD.

Having said that, I am curious to check out one of these CIP places. And I always mean to get to the Vortex in Atlanta, but we just never make it out of the PP area. Maybe next year...

We TRIED to go to the Vortex in Atlanta this year BUT someone(s) said they knew right where it was and after driving around for 30+ minutes we (sis and I) jumped ship and took a cab back to get some food at Vinyl before the show. :Smug:

John speaks the truth RE: What-A-Burger. They are FAB for fast food BUT the BEST burger in the whole entire world can be found at Pappa's Burgers in Houston, TX. To. Die. For.

Its only 20minutes-ish walking distance, not 2 bad imo.

Wow, that's disappointing. Next thing ya know, McDonalds will start up a high-end fast food chain and call it Chipotle or something..... --Oh, wait. :heh:

I want to know what possessed them to name one of the burgers Goblin Cock.

'Cause there's a metal band called Goblin Cock.

And who in their right mind would order it.

Well, judging from the album cover I saw...(probably one of the funniest/worst ever done)...I guess they want a really BIG burger. Or perhaps it's a wiener.

"Wow! This hamburger is as big as my HEAD!"

Damn you. Now I'm hungry for a burger. On Christmas Day. And the only place that's open is Waffle Haus.
