Fuck that. You can't make me choose between ToG & ASTNS.

I've been listening to "Falling Unknown" exclusively for like 2 days straight. So I think I'll go with A Sun That Never Sets. And I'd take the Eye of Every Storm over Times of Grace.

and what about Through Silver In Blood? Neurosis are ridiculously good.

Times of Grace blew me right through the wall the first time I heard it and continually has done so to this day. As Sun That Never Sets took time to grow on me and eventually blew me away to the same extent as ToG but in a totally different way. Hard to compare the two.

The Eye of Every Storm, yet another unpopular decision from me (like anyone gives a fuck)...one of the most emotionally devastating albums of the year, and a likely candidate for the upper half of my top ten.

That said, Falling Unknown indeed rules all.

Sounds like tomorrow I'm finally gonna pop my "-core" cherry and give Neurosis a chance with A Sun That Never Sets and Isis' "Panopticon". What should I expect? I know these guys have moved pretty far away from their roots, and are doing something pretty different, i just don't know what it is or why I should care. Anyone wanna sum it up?

You should expect an album of unruly proportions with Panopticon, here is a good review. The album sounds like crashing ocean waves to me.

I don't know these Neurosis albums, just Through Silver in Blood (pretty awesome) and Neurosis & Jarboe (UNRULY).

I would have bought a Neurosis album if I had found one in Uppsala, but I didn't. Hey which one is the best to get for more of the RAAH WALL OF SOUND BONE CRUSHING DISTORTION and less of the calm stuff?

My three faves..

Souls at Zero, Enemy of the Sun, Through Silver into Blood.

I think it would be difficult to find ANY three albums by ANY artist that are as strong as this run of three.

Neither of those have much to do with -core at all. :dopey:

Panopticon is just a great album. Just expect masterfully played music. The vocals can be a bit -coreish, but not really, as they always remind me of caveman grunts.

That Neurosis album is as soft as they come

Through Silver in Blood or Times of Grace. You might enjoy Enemy of the Sun and Souls of Zero
