I've got three mixes of this song now, can somebody check them out and tell me what they think? The first is the new revision, new mastering chain, new EQ, reverb on drums, quite a few changes. The second is the original mix with too much high end. The third is the original mix with a new mastering chain.

It's strange because the majority of the vocals and guitars seem to be mids haha, using a spectrum analyzer...wtf

I'm dying trying to get these high's out. I've eq'd the hell out of the highs on the OHs, and lowered a bit on the Mastering chain....hrmmmm. Everybody tells me the original mix sounds better, but I agree it's harsh on the highs.

What we perceive as highs is often high mids.
Try a medium Q 5db cut and sweep it around 3-8k and you will find the harsh frequencies.
On overheads it's usually around 4k.
Cutting highs with a shelf or lpf will make dull the overheads but not really cut the resonance in the high mids.
While you are at it sweep around 800 too and will probably find another resonance clouding the low mids.

Thanks so much, I'll see if I can suck some of it out, other than the highs, does the mix sound decent?

I really appreciate you guys feedback.
