"Fistful Of Metal" is my favourite album out of everything these bands have released, but i liked Overkill a lot more on stage than Anthrax and "Feel The Fire" is one of the best metal songs evah, so i vote for Anthrax.

Overkill by millions of miles. Anthrax have a few hit songs but are overall pretty bland, while Overkill is one of the best live bands ever and has a very long and strong back catalogue, and whilst not retaining the qualitie of olde they have not quite wimped out either.

hmm ... this is a tough one. both great bands and rather unique ... nobody sounds like them. but both super inconsistent.

Overkill is defitnetelly more tr00 but I'll take Anthrax overall as i've been exposed to them more.

+ Anthrax = NYC ... Overkill = NJ :loco:

I had to go with Overkill. Both have excellent early albums but Overkill stuck to their guns. Plus, Blitz is one of the coolest guys ever and Gustafson ruled. When he left I started losing interest immediately. :erk:

Edit: losing interest is a bit strong...the magic of their early material was gone for me after Gustafson left. They still put out some good stuff, but it wasn't the same for me.

Anthrax. Solely based on their first few albums. Overkill's been putting out more steady material and is the way more consistant band, as well as having one of the ebst thrash stage shows ever, but Anthrax's Among the Living, Persistance of Time, and Spreading the Disease are some of the best albums of the 80s, not to mention Fistful of metal being such a classic. Tough call, though.

Overkill is so astronomically better that the fact that this thread even exists is perplexing to me.
