And Soy, I was friggin' poor and even hostels in Manhattan were way above what I could afford. So, if you ever want to travel cheap in NY, stay at Jazz on the City! It's a clean dump and their stairs kill you, but you get single rooms for the standards of a poor person. But maybe you're filthy rich.
