Saw him at Ozzfest this year in Massachusetts (saw a few Opeth shirts there... anyone from this forum?), and he was pretty weak. He said his doctors told him not to sing because of his throat infection, but he said, "Fuck you, I'm singing!" You could tell it was tough for him. I mean, he already struggles, but this was the kind of thing where you're almost nervous for him, hoping he can just make it through.

On the one hand, I was impressed that he pushed on and didn't pull an Axl Rose...

On the other hand, it was nearly painful. The "backing track" was a bit too loud, and only served to highlight his shortcomings.

Anyhow, what's your opinion on the Oz Man? Does he really deserve the credit he gets? Overrated? Unique? Groundbreaking? What?

He's had a few good songs, and they're just good enough to make up for that fuckin "I don't wanna stop" song.

In the studio, I think he can still hang. He can take a shitload of takes and they can use some autotune shit if they need to for all I care. Though he's nowhere the musician Dio is, he's still, imo, interesting to listen to. I think there are some great moments on the new disc, and I'm glad he's still making music. Time for a new guitarist, though, I think. He needs some young hot shot to get him all fired up and working in a new direction.

As far as live? It's for nostalgia's sake only.

He's a sentamental favourite!
Good old Grandpa Ozzy,
[In Best Ozzy Voice] "In my day we'd..... SHARRON, WHERE'S ME F***KIN SOCKS?"
He's not as sharp as he was but he's still good fun to have around!
Well that's my opinion!:kickass:

I don't know much about Ozzy, so here I've got the opportunity to share some prejudices ;). Really, I like what I know from old Sabbath (mostly, the Paranoid and the Sabbath, bloody Sabbath LP), that stuff is really good . I've heard some new songs like Dreamer and some other, forgot the name. I thought they were ... not good. Boring. Lame.

But what annoys me the most about him is how he treats himself, how he destroys his health although he seems to have that great support from his wife who picked him up when he was completely down. In my view he should get a grip on himself :Smug:. He was on a TV show here in Germany together with Johannes Heesters, who is now 103 years old. I've heard jokes afterwards where Heesters looked more healthy and vivid than Ozzy. :zombie:

You are aware she milks him for everything he has in money?

Anyway, as much as it's my opinion that he's creatively *done*, it's also his right to go on with it.

Then it's a win-win-situation. He's got a woman, she's got money. Isn't this quite normal? ;)

Absolutely. And it's our right to say if we like it. And his to not give a sh*t. And so on. :)

He was the perfect singer for Sabbath but I don't really like his solo material that much. I saw him at Ozzfest 04 and 05 and he good, but I think it's time for him to throw in the towel.

I will always have a place in my heart for Ozzy, but he has not been involved in a song that I like since 1996 or so with the song "Back On Earth". His last two albums were not good at all. At least there were great (IMO) songs on Ozzmosis. He was awesome in Sabbath and I love Diary and NMT. His Live and Loud album is the album have spun more times than anything else, but he either needs to call it quits or change his direction in music. It is the same old song and dance for the last two albums, and this is coming from a total Ozzy fanboy. I agree with Soundave, ditch Zakk. He is a shadow of his glory days in the late '80s and early '90s. Find some new blood and write whatever the hell comes out.

One thing that NOBODY can take from Ozzy though is his absolute dedication to his fans. He gives them all he has, and I truly admire him for that. In this current music era, "musicians" with a hangnail throw in the towel, but not Ozz. The man loves what he does, and that is why he still has adoring fans.... like me.
