they have my vote(as well as many others it seems) as the greatest opening band ive ever seen. through osiris' eyes might be the most memorable song of the weekend for me. either that or stargate. BRING THEM BACK FOR VI! favorite band and cd right now

Pagan's Mind was probably my favorite performance this year! Well, actually #2 after Vanden Plas. I wish I could have met the guys at their table, but perhaps they already know that we all appreciated them coming out to play :) I didn't know a thing about the band other than their name before the fest and I walked out a new fan! :)

By far the best opening band ever!!! I hope they'll come back in two years and play at least 3rd slot. I would love if they could play the entire Celestial Entrance from start to end.

i just wish i had a video of their show alone. id give all the cds i bought for a copy of it. the first 3 songs from celestial embrace they started their set with was fucking classic

I was lucky enough stay in the same hotel as them and get to talk to them a bit. They were all great guys. The Bass player was one of the nicest and coolest guys I've ever had the chance to meet.

Their album I picked up after they played is great to. Has this feeling of pure energy to it.

They blew me away and were only second to VP for my fave performance. The guys in the band were all extremely cool and hung out with the fans. I thoroughly enjoyed their set and I was amazed that Nils could really make all of those sounds with his mouth (the strange sounding vocals here and there.) I was also completely blown away by Jorn Viggo Lofstat (lead guitar.) He put on a clinic and did not mis a note from the songs I know. He is one of the best guitarists in the genre today.

I will be the black sheep here and say that PM did not overly impress me live (there CD is not bad) I will admit that I really like the guitarist alot! I am not putting PM down I think they are a fine band but I would go with Mercenary and CIIC over them. I have been hearing the same about Mercenary on this chat board as well, a lot of people dig them. Circle II Circle for me stole the live show, Nightwish a close second, Rage then Symphony X.

IMO, Pagan's Mind F'N OWNED!

They proved they got what it takes to hang with the big boys. Jorn is an amazing guitarist, Nils has a set of pipes that put me in "awe", and Stian was a pounding force on the drums.

I was a little worried as this is my fav band.... but like they did with the Celestial CD..... they kicked my ass to hell and back!

Also look for even more Pagans pics on my website in the weeks to come!

That's cool you got to see your favorite band and they did not disapoint and it looks like many share your thoughts. Bottom line is that everyone had a good time despite what bands they liked or didn't. I have the PM cd (I think I have both to be honest) and I dig listening to it from time to time but for me the live set didn't take. Evergrey is another band I like a lot and same goes, I thought there live set could have been better...on the other hand C2C debut album is very good but when I saw them live they blew me away and now I am listening to their album even more...same with Mercenary and Rage these are two bands I never owned anything by them (well I did get Everblack and received the new Rage promo Soundchaser) but you can bet my collection will be updated soon as I get some money to spend! :)

Awesome time at PP, I can't stop raving about it! A lot of my friends are all jealous that I went and they are probably going to be going with me next year! :)

Cheers

Yeah Stian is a fantastic drummer as well. Drummers always get a raw deal playing live as mic'ing a set to really emulate anything close to what comes out on disc is almost impossible, plus they often times don't get to use their own set. Stian rocked though...

I had a hard time finding the first pagans mind cd but picked it up at the show and i listened to it about 8 of the 10 hours it took to drive home. It still hasn't left my cd player. This cd rules!! track number 4 is addictive "embracing fear" wow...what a song! The guys were all very cool to meet and hang out with. Steinar is one of the nicest people iv'e ever met anywhere. I would love for them to make a dvd and i sure hope thay make it back for pp6 because i will be there. :) Ron

I totally agree! I will be rooting for them to return ASAP! Also, the DVD idea is very welcome also! What a class act all the way.... Thank you Glenn for bringing them over the pond. Also a big "hello!" to Morten, one of the coolest band managers I have ever met!

These guys were my favorite of progpower this year. I had gotten Celestial Entrance several months before and think it is one of the best CDs out this year. They really pulled off these tunes well with lots of energy and a great show. Their songwriting is excellent. The sound was very good as well. They are a great sounding band live. Their drummer plays excellent drum parts and his sound was excellent. His kick drum really had a good driving whack to it. When Secret Sphere came out , the sound was the same for his kicks at first until his sloppy double bass work forced the sound mixer to take the whack out of the mix. None of this sloppiness with Pagan's Mind-just an excellent driving band. They are also really great guys to talk to. Hope they come back soon-my favorite!

I'd pay any amount of money to get my grubby hands on a well made video/dvd of pagan's mind at PPIV.

Any. Amount. Of Money. :(

I'm really good friends with the drummer and guitarist of pagans mind... So i'll ask them if there will be a dvd, I know that each band will recieve a copy of the tape... and that Stian (drummer) promised to make me a copy of the tape and send it... So maybe i could make a copy for you! :)
Nils (vocals) is in florida with the guitarist from Kamelot and some other guy... and i'm going to call them tomorrow to see if they will come up to my house for a little while. I'll bribe them with free beer. mwahahahaha.

ciao!
