Pantera and Phil done?

Ecstatic Youth

...playing with fire
This is from Bravewords.com:

**As reported by Blabbermouth, PANTERA frontman Phil Anselmo spoke to the Dutch Aardschok about his future in the band. In the issue that streets in March he revealed that “Pantera was my home for many, many years. I don't have a problem with anyone in the band. Pantera gave me a lot, and I wouldn't be the same person without them. But I think we lost a piece of what we once stood for. Reinventing The Steel was a step in the right direction, but it's just not like it used to be anymore. There is a time when you have to say enough is enough. I don't want to be a heavy metal grandpa. I'm 33 and have broken all the bones in my body serving Pantera. But I'm not 22 anymore. I just don't get the feeling I used to singing 'Cowboys From Hell' or 'Walk'. No one knows what the future holds, but our last tour was with SLAYER, and I don't think there could be a better ending tour. I don't want to go on and on like JUDAS PRIEST or SABBATH. I prefer the SOUNDGARDEN approach, who called it a day at the peak of their fame.”**

I Hope this isn't true, I want them to keep making music, and I want to see them live again, it kicked god damn ass. But he does make some valid points. But you know, 33 isn't that old. I know he's been touring and making music for so long, but there are people older and people who have been doing what he's been doing for much longer. Look at Iron Maiden and Bruce, quite old, been doing this for extremely long, but he still tours and makes music. He still puts ona great live show, and still makes great music. Brave New World, was great.

Anywho, this is truly shitty. PanterA are great. I hope this isn't really the end.

Who gives a fuck? They're just trying to be black sabbath with Reinventing the Steel.

Cowboys from hell was a good album, but the rest is shit. Fuck Phil Anselmo....

"For every fucking second of fucking pathetic media that fucking pisses on me and judges what i fucking am in one fucking paragraph... Grrraaarrrrr....Fuck you all!!! Fuck you all!!!"

ha ha.

It was back tothe basics...

But yes, Phil is a turkey, with his comments about his overdose and other devo pursuits.
Rex does all the work, and phil rides the van.

Last time Pantera was in Australia (last year), a few choice words and phrases were uttered that were totally unrelated to Australia.

Unfortunately, it didn't go down really well. Strange that he would do that.

PANTERA is one of my favorite bands along with NEVERMORE/SANCTUARY, SABBATH, OLD KISS, OLD VAN HALEN, SLAYER, TESTAMENT, DEATH/CONTROL DENIED, OLD METALLICA, AND OLD MEGADETH to mention a few. Cowboys is my favorite album, but I like them all with Trendkill being my least favorite (trying to hard to be extreme and didn't flow like Vulgar, Far Beyond, or Steel). Anyway, PANTERA is/was a great live band and give respect to there influences (KISS, SABBATH, ZZ TOP, PRIEST, SLAYER, ETC...) I could see how some may call them drunken rednecks, but I think they're talented. Hell, Phil is in about 5 other bands (Down, Superjoint Ritual, Necrophagia) and Rex, Dime, and Vinnie have Tres Diablos and Gasoline side projects. If Phil leaves I would like to see one last tour and album. That would be bowing out gracefully and not just bowing out. I agree with Phil about bowing out gracefully and I think its time for Kiss, Aerosmith, and Metallica(if their new album is shit) to all bow out.
