Hullo, I am really really lucky since I found a Paradise Lost CD. However, I don't know whether it is worth buying. It is called something like "Believe in Nothing" and it has a whole load of bees on the cover.

So should I get it? Or should I turn my head towards Angra?

And thats great... but its your opinion. My opinion is that Icon a better album then Symbol of Life and Draconian Times, and so are the three albums before Icon.

Believe in Nothing is a very good gothic rock cd. Alot of samples, the guitars are nice and heavy, the drums fit nicely, good atmosphere- and all the songs are somwhat simplistic and clock in around 330- or 4 min long. Its a somewaht enjoyable cd, its just not metal- which is a good thing if you want a brief reprieve from meal.

As for Angra- they are one of 3 power metal bands I can stand- even if their singer sounds as if he should be in the opera. Anyway, Holy Land and Angels Cry are their best albums- excellent ideas musically for a power metal band.

Paradise Lost was a doom-ish band back in the day.
I don't like it but pick up Lost Paradie or Gothic
then jump into Icon or Draconian Times then get Host and Symbol of Life
this band has progressed and evolved alot.
I saw them in 93 on a US tour.
Even though they have changes so much I still love em.
It was never really POP , the lyrics still had a dark depressing meaning , tempo genrelly slow.
But yes they did begin using more of a digital sound.
I RECOMEND PARADISE LOST !!

demonictrance, what are they like live? they have a concert coming up here in london in november and i hope to be going

I saw them earlier in the year with Opeth. Aaron and Greg are fucking great live. The rest of the band seemed sorta bored and Nick was rather bitter the whole time as people kept yelling stupid shit at them. Still a great performance all around, though I wish they had played As I Die.

I think One Second and Say Just Words were great songs. Too bad the rest of that album didn't keep up the momentum.

I agree completly The first 2 songs were good But that was it My disapointment level with that album was close to when I heard Metallica load at that point I had only heard Shades of God and Icon

Draconian TImes was possibly their last great cd.. however, I enjoy them all EXCEPT Symbol of Life.. that album was a total piece of shit.
