Paul Di'Anno got his US Visa.....

Eh, Maiden fans > Angra / Vanden Plas fans!!! :)

Whatever dude. Matos and Kuntz are much better singers than DiAnno will ever be. I don't care what anyone says, it's my opinion.

Plus, they're not criminals.

Nobody cares about Paul Dianno anymore. Very (VERY) few people, other than those who are stuck in the 80s and still think Iron Maiden is the only metal band around the world.

I agree...DiAnno is a novelty act. If he said he wasnt doing any Maiden songs....that show would be so empty.

I am excited about it. I like Icarus Witch. The Maiden stuff will be great to hear live.

Hard to say.
I wouldn't say that people who care about Di'Anno are stuck in the 80s.
I think the only people who care are die hard Maiden fans who never got the chance to see Di'Anno fronting Maiden live. It will be fun hearing him perform material from IRON MAIDEN and KILLERS.

I think there are enough US Maiden fanatics to make each show sell quite well.

I'll believe he's actually playing when I see him on stage at Jaxx, and not before that.

Thanks DEBBIE DOWNER!!!

Well said. I am one of those Maiden fans that have never seen DiAnno live ever. He was a big part of that band and made 2 great albums with them. Unfortunately he hasn't really made anything since that would merit a decent solo career. Last night I was talking to a friend and I told him about this show, he said he was going but he never heard anything of DiAnno after Maiden and asked me what he should get. I actually had to pause for a second and didn't really have an answer for him. I just told him not to bother cause he's going to do an all Maiden set anyways.

Yep, it's not like Di'Anno will play anything aside from Maiden tunes.
Icarus Witch are his back up band, and are in the States.

I am sure they were simply told, "Learn IRON MAIDEN and KILLERS. That's the set"
It's not like Paul is going to have these guys go learn select BATTLEZONE and KILLERS (the band) material, ya know?

I could be wrong, but I think I may recall him coming to the Thirsty Whale with BATTLEZONE in the late 80's, but that would be about it.

Maiden's first US tour was KISS's "Creatures of the Night" tour, right? That was what, like 82?

They never toured the US with Kiss, they were the support act for them in 1980 on the Unmasked European tour.

Maiden's first US tour was as a support act on Judas Priest's Point of Entry Tour in 1981 with Dianno.

In 1982 with Dickinson they did 4 separate US tours as openners for Rainbow, 38 Special, Scorpions and Judas Priest.
They actually played the Taste Of Chicago that year!

Ok, thanks for the confirmation.
I knew they did a tour with KISS.

I know people who went to Maiden at UIC for Piece of Mind. I think Quiet Riot may have supported.

I do remember hearing about the Taste of Chicago.

My older brother tells me we saw Black Sabbath at Taste of Chicago, in the DIO era, but I wouldn't place $$$$ on how true that is. Ha!

Rainbow and Maiden would be amazing.
I would love to see Maiden bring someone out like SAXON, ANGEL WITCH, DIAMOND HEAD, etc. Would never happen, since most in the States have shitty taste in music................

I have a friend that was at that show front row. When Dave Murray smashed his guitar and threw the pieces into the audience he caught the fretboard but a security guard came up to him and took it away.
That had to be the highlight of the dude's life cause he would never stfu about it.

ha! Nice!

I am pissed I didn't go with my brother and his friends to the first leg of Powerslave (With Twisted Sister opening in support of STAY HUNGRY).

I did go the next summer to the 2nd leg of the tour with ACCEPT (Though it's not like you ever heard me talk about this at all or anything... Ha!)

I saw DiAnno (with Sharlee d'Angelo on bass, no less) touring in 92 with Solitude Aeturnus opening. At that point he was playing about 50/50 Maiden and solo stuff, though I would suspect he'd play a good deal more Maiden this tour.

I'm with you on this one. That said, I will watch and see if this actually happens, which I hope it does, for those who do want to see him live. I'll pass unless I'm getting paid. :heh:
