PC problem

System Restore Points eats up some space too.

How did you check the total space taken, Blitz? Did you take into account hidden files? (Like System Restore Point and Swapfiles.)

OK, if you have any games, they can take up a SHITLOAD of space.

If you have more than a gig of RAM then sometimes there's XP likes to shadow it so you have some pretty massive (ie: 2 gig+) files on your drive. Hibernation files are another one...

Nah, how does one do that?

defrag..?
Would that help?

Has it given you a lot of space back? You might want to get all the windows security updates, etc, + a firewall (free ones are around)..

ok dumb Q - whats AVG ? (anti virus god ??) sounds like a cool app...

Also, have you tried to do that Disk Cleanup thingy from the C: (and other drives) properties...

good luck with it.

Is it the free version you're using? That's what I use. Glad to hear it's working well for you! Gives me some confidence that it's protecting my PC pretty well. Have you done a check for spyware as well? I use Spyware Doctor (got the top rating in a magazine article I read), combined with Ad-Aware. Gotta love free stuff.

Possible you were being used as a drop off point to be a remote file sharer. So people would upload shit to your machine for other people to get using a trojan backdoor into your system...

I'd be changing your passwords pretty soon... ;)
