At the moment I consider buying the Revalver MKIII Amp Sim, but I heard that they announced a new version III.V at NAMM 2010. Does anybody of you guys know whether the upgrade will be for free when I buy right now?

Thanks

Hey,

In my opinion there is no need to pay for this sim unless it proves itself in the next version. The current slew of free amp sims developed by some people who frequent this forum are excellent, and some of the best out there.

indeed, curious on the x50.

Honestly I think the free Nick Crow 8505 sim is pretty much on par with Revalver's 6505, if not even better. I also even prefer POD Farms Recto sims to that of Revalver's Recto sim.

I've actually been thinking of doing the same thing.. I have a windows laptop that's pretty slow and a few years old. But I reckon that if I format it and reinstall XP, the computer will be capable of working with guitar tracks :)

That is exactly my problem. I'm running on a Mac and will never switch back to Windows. So you guys think that I should stay away from revalver?
I already have Guitar Rig4, Amplitube 2, Amplitube Metal and Softube Metal Amp Room. But I want some decent 5150 simulation. What do you guys think about PodFarm?

Has anybody tried a real tube amp with some great impulses? I wonder if you could take a 5150/6505 head and connect it directly to the computer where you simulate the cab with a decent impulse response. And if this is possible, do I need a load box, or can I connect directly to a preamp like e.g. API 7600?

I believe multiple people have tried this with good results. And yes you would need a load box to attempt this yourself.
