Has anyone tried Combo version of Peavey Windsor? I heard some great recordings of Windsor head on this forum, but how do those two compare? I know I can't expect much from the speaker and the power amp on combo, but is preamp as good as on the head?

well, the head is way louder and has more headroom if nothing else. It's 100W, when the combo is just 15W with a built in power attenuator so it can be played as low as 2W if I remember correctly.

I didn't explain what I'm looking for well enough. First I need it for home practice and that won't be a problem to judge after I try it in a shop - attenuator thingy is exactly built for that. But I wanted to record it from fx send, use some impulses and hopefully get something like the head recordings I head. That's why I want to know how their preamp compare.

The preamp should be the same, the power amp is different. And at least with the head you can get pretty nice metal tone with a tubescreamer in front. sharyn

Yeah, that's the tone I was talking about. Sound great. It would be great if preamps are the same.
