Paulaner, do like. And yes I also found beer around here to be the most bitter I've tried to present date. Actually going to get some more in a few, see if I find Bernard Brewery material. :D
 
I dunno about over your way, your in wine country, I'm in beer land. I recommend any of the Bernards, they're all good. Pilsner Urquell probably is the god of beer here, though. Especially beer you can buy in a supermarket. :)
 
First night out here in CZ I had some Pilsner Urquell (tap), and did enjoy it a lot. It's thicker, tastier and somehow more consistent than the beer back home, that's for sure.
