Phase imaging vs. panning?

Just had a weird thought....would it be better to mix using phase imaging as opposed to panning to? Anyone thought about this? Like using Waves S1-Imager instead of your normal panning?

Depends on what you want, but there's no benefit without counterpart.
I don't think it is a good idea to make rules with such things.

most of the time using "image enhancers" make you loose punch. They also create huge phase problems if used heavily.
