Phil leaves Pantera

Well that's a shame.

Pantera were great, and I was hoping maybe a Cowboys style album may be released soon, but now that isn't possible.

And leaving Down... damn that is a shame. Down were great.

I haven't heard much SJR but they don't seem as good as Pantera or Down.

It will be good to see what Dimebag gets up to now.

Superjoint Ritual has more of one thing involved that Pantera and Down do not......DRUGS.

I actually kinda glad to see Pantera move also, Reinventing did reinvent something but unfortunatly its was just Far Beyond Driven II. Really wish he would have chose Down as his permanent band but oh well.

Oh and for those Phil bashers....PANTERA WAS WHERE THE MONEY IS.

......Would you like me to explain my country phase?

NOOO!!

*Phew!*

Well Black Sabbath inspired more nu-metal bands. Do you hate them too? Keep in mind that they were big influences on Metallica as well, and even Opeth.

I think he was talking about more direct influences to modern day 'nu-metal' Keilbasa... but I could be wrong.....

As in, within the same generation, or the generation above, if you know what I mean?

Hey, I owe a lot to Matchbox 20, if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have got into current music (I was stuck in the 80s with Bryan Adams and Tears for Fears). Therefore I wouldn't have got to metal.

So, yes.

i wouldn't consider going from bryan adams to matchbox20 a progression.... more like a catastrophe!

and how did you get from there to metal?

Yes supposedly Dimebag was working on the Pantera 4 video, hopefully they will still release it.

Yeah, now I wonder what Dimbebag Darrel is going to do(pantera guitarist). I think he is a fucking awesome guitarist, he can do some crazy shit. I have never known of him having any projects other than Pantera, but I am probably wrong because I never looked into it.

Hopefully he keeps playing music somewhere.

Oh and the Pantera home videos are some of the funniest shit I have ever seen, you might like them even if you hate Pantera.

yeh why is phil the only one with significant side projects????

Vinnie Paul and Dimebag have a few side-projects as well

New Found Power - A "supergroup" that features an appearance by Zakk Wylde on their upcoming release.
Gasoline
Rebel Meets Rebel
Tres Diablos - Just Rex, Vinnie, and Dime

Yeah I really hate how Patera obviously inspired all the nu-metal bands, because they both use guitars.... and what was up with all those nu-metal crazy guitar solos in Pantera? Shit, what a bunch of nu-metal crap.... I'm certainly to Tr00 for Pantera.

But seriously people....... fuck the naysayers..... Pantera was awesome and they always will be.

Yes, well, sometimes things get worse before they get better. :p

It was more like Bryan Adams -> various country bands -> Matchbox 20 -> Everclear -> Metallica -> Godsmack -> Slipknot -> Good bands

And no, I'm not sure how I got from Everclear to Metallica. Or why I regressed from Metallica to Godsmack and Slipknot THEN got into good bands.
