Philosophy of metal

I think the fact that the whole scholarly analysis was done by someone obviously out to impress people (he did NOT need to put the whole music theory shit left and right, and he didn't know oh so very much anyway) should go a long way to improve the negative image of kvlt black metallers as stuck up elitist assholes who say a lot and do little, and try to prove to themselves and everyone else that they know and understand everything. That one in particular is really gay.

Aside from that part, the douche said Death deserved only a footnote. WHAT! Just because you can't be openminded enough to like the music doesn't mean they're worthless, and just because they were influenced doesn't mean they copied - sometimes repetition is necessary, though according to your perfect world equilibrium no 2 songs should have a single aspect in common. And besides that, Death created a sound with their last three albums that was extremely unique, especially in comparison to the stuff their detractors say they copied from - nothing at ALL from Atheist, Cynic, or Coroner sounds like a Death song, and vice versa. Vague concepts like a time signature or intervallic pattern (see I know theory too douchebag) that any band has a right to use, maybe you can find a similarity somewhere...but saying they ripped them off is just dumb

this is sheer hackery. thoughtful, but hackery still.
metal's an interesting genre to say the least, but the writer takes it way too far.
