Piano at A 442hz, rest of the song in A 440hz

besides knowing that it's wrong, can you actually HEAR the differance?

as far as i know the JND (Just Noticeable Diferrance) for pitch is 5 cents, which is less than the differance in your case,
so, can you even hear it or is that just a hypothetical question?

the artist was really bothered with the situation as they clearly heard it was off

:D

Edit: it seems you too, are mistaking cents with Hz, hence why you assume 440 Hz to 442 is not enough difference to notice

the pitch shift that will be required to tune the synth up to 442Hz concert will be 7.85
That is enough to be noticeable, but not enough to be problematic for a decent shifting algo

also, just to get a proper answer to the frequency for 2 cents up from 440, it's 440.508602

yeah i forgot how cents are translated to frequancies haha...
if it's 7.85 it should be noticeable, and if it's only the synth that's out of tune it'll probably sound bad.

but really, the smallest pitch-shift should do it, and probably won't damage the sound at all
