Okay, I've been using Dimarzio D'activators for a while now and I plan to go active in a week. I'm stuck between an EMG 81/60 set and Seymour Duncan's Blackout AHB-1.

Which should I go for? I usually play 90's thrash and some nwobhm stuff. Used to play death metal but I dropped it.

I love the bluesy tone of the EMG 60, but I'd love to see a clearer picture.

Do you think I should go for something else other than EMG 81/60 and Blackouts?

And yes, for those of you who'd wanna suggest the EMG 81/85 config - I apparently went through that stage, and sold them off like an idiot thinking the Dimarzio passives were doing a great job for me. *Regret*
81 (bridge) seems fine as of now. I used to love that. But the 85 (neck) just didnt work for me. It's too smooth + boomy in my opinion.

Some feedback would be much appreciated.

Try out some Duncan Livewires, man. Just do it.

If you don't like those, have you considered 81TW/89TW's?

rahh it seems to me on that matter that only your ears can answer this question. EMGs are often sold cheap by users on here, get them and buy a blackout to compare.
