Piezo's and amplification

Have had my baby with piezo's for a while now, and am starting to think about dedicated amplification for the things.

So, if anyone has or knows someone with these little beauties:

1)What amplification do you/they use?

2)What effects do they normally put on them? Compression seems to bring quite a lot of life into them, but I'd be interested to know what other people do

I've got piezo's on my Brian Moore. Personally I prefer to use an acoustic guitar preamp into a PA. Then maybe a little chorus.

in what way are you guys using these piezo transducers? i've wired up a few contact mics for sampling and other really fucked up noises.
