Pink Floyd: where to start?

my 3 favorite pink floyd tracks:

careful with that axe eugene.

with the live in pompeii DVD being the best cuts of those tracks you can find id say. an almost out of body experience.

Live at Pompeii is seriously great. I agree about the Echoes and Axe versions on there.

well, just make sure to get one that's not among the latest or earliest. the latest suck pretty much and the early ones might be not a good start. DSOTM, WYWH and Animals are pretty much save buys for anyone with the slightest sense for music id say ...

Then get everything between Piper at the Gates & The Wall
Wish You Were Here & Darkside are probably the easiest to digest for a beginner

Meddle ( this is thier best album PERIOD.(or just IMO) you just need some time and introduction first )
Animals
Obscured by Clouds
Atom Heart Mother
Relics
Saucerful of Secrets
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
and I guess Ummagumma which is pretty out there
The Wall is great only for the singles that were cut from it.

The Live at Pompei DVD is fucking tits as well . Check it out once you get into the band.

You can count on one hand the number of bad notes those guys hit in the 70s.....Obscured by Clouds somewhat average, decent pop rock, and Atom Heart Mother has moments of cheese.....other than that its a decade of perfect 10s.

it has some decent tracks on it and some classic barret songs...eugene, interstellar, emily and the nile song...

Yeah, he must not realise it's a concept album.. I just didn't bother replying because his opinion officially stopped mattering to me. I don't care if he changed his mind, he lost me with that sentence.

Bla, the singles, besides Comfortably Numb and Hey You (unless Mother a single?), are probably my least favorite tracks on it. "Waiting for the Worms" = amazing.
