I'm sure you guys have seen the millions of musicmp3 playlists posted online.
Why do that? What are those used for? What can you do with them and if you know anything can you give me a tutorial for a computer illiterate like myself?

I know something about Wordpad being involved. What's up?

Its basically just a , "Hey if you like this song, you might like what else I listen to."

People will also share playlists as things to listen to... similar to when people make compilation CDs.

There HAS to be more to it than that. If you look at the page it says "right click here to save this playlist". If you right click and look under Properties, you have a location for the person's C or D drive which I assume contains those MP3s, right? There's something going on up in here.......

Ah. Well you can import those playlists into file sharing services... to get the songs, like LimeWire.

ok, do you have a tutorial page on how to do that? I'm basically retarded here on this matter so any help would be nice.

Also, wouldn't this be a way for us, here, to offer songs to each other? Just thinking....

Sorry. I know I'm an oddball and all, but I don't promote/facilitate illegal file sharing.

Yeah, like most of the folks around here aren't buying EVERYTHING as it is? This seems to be the type of place where if we hear it, we'll buy it. Am I wrong? Technically illegal, but once promoted by Metallica and look where they're at.

While I agree with Cheiron, in regards to promoting illegal file sharing, I have no issue with it when folks buy the CDs they like. This seems to be the opinion of the musicians I've spoken with about it as well.

In the end, I buy way more CDs because of file sharing than I would without it. There is simply too much subpar/average crap out there to buy blind.

Zod

Zod, myspace (though sometimes songs on there are surely illegal), and band sites listing offering a few songs to download, is enough for me to decide if I want to buy the album or not. But I agree. If I ever do download MP3s and like the album, I buy it. Guess you could call it my 'charity' to starving artists.
